5 in 1 multicooker

I've been looking at these as well. The slow cooker we have even though relatively new is far to large for a family of 4 and if you cook small quantities it seems to cook too quickly, it also doesn't brown which I think gives a lot of flavor to the dish. Does anyone know if the pressure cook function in the  5 in 1s  is as good as a stand alone pressure cooker? Im having a cupboard clean out and would like to buy one for winter cooking.

wonder i have the same problem DH got me a 6 liter one, way 2 big for 2

mine does brown which is fantastic when i do use it, i made a bolognese sauce and cooked it for 7 hours it was delicious

I have never used a pressure cooker, mum had one and  the noise scared the living daylights out of me!LOL

My slow cooker is chipped but still works. Needs to be upgraded but avent done as yet.

Maybe I need a pressure cooker.

fundji, i got talked into a 6 litre one by the salesperson when the 4 litre one broke the first time I used it - they didn't have any 4 litres left and I don't think he wanted to go through the trouble of ordering one in for me so convinced me the bigger is better. I'm really disappointed in it and we hardley use it at all because it's jut too big. As said I also think the browning option and pressure cooking would be fantastic.

i checked  mine, and its 7 litres  brevill makes a 3 litre one which would be perfect for me ,but it doen not have the browning funtion

Thinking about my slow cooker it must have a capacity of a lot more than 6 litres but I'll need to check it out. I read the 5 in 1 is 6 litres as well??

My multi cooker has been very very busy over the last couple of weeks, we are due to get a new cow in the freezer tomorrow so I've been cooking up all the roasts, shin, stewing meat and briskets to clear out a bit of space. I've managed to give away a fair bit to some friends with new babies so now the freezer is all ready to go!
It is such a wonderful appliance, I can see that it will be getting even more of a work out once the weather cools down.

I have had one of these for a while and just love it, my slow cookers are going ( will keep the small one for heating when entertaining ) my family much prefer the taste of pressure cooked meals over slow cooked. Perfect companion for my TM allows me to do larger quanities of meat in  the PC and rice and veg in the TM in the same amount of time. I did have a problem with the quality of this product but eventually got one that works and now I love it I have used it as a slow cooker but for me ( like most slow  cookers these days  ) it cooks too fast to be left all day.

At $134.95 I am very very tempted.
DH want's to get a new rice cooker as ours is soo old and the bowl is very scratched.
And we have several crock pots I use in winter taking up a lot of space.  (Tho since we had the wood heater put in I cook a lot on there in cast iron pots)
This 1 gadget would replace 4 appliances I have allmost worn out, and give me the bonus of a pressure cooker.

Do you think that reasoning would work on DH?
