Just put in oven now.
Only had 3 large bananas and 110 g chips.
Seemed very stiff took longer than 15 secs to mix?

Had to use light brown sug and a bit of Demerara to make up amount.

Will report IDC as am leaving for family tomorrow.

Will compare with my usual banana cake recipe and maybe write that up but will have to convert.

They look great, just a bit smaller I guess with  2 less bananas.

I forgot to review this recipe when I did it a few weeks ago.   One of my loaves was cooked perfectly, the other not as well so I am using the cooked one to serve buttered with coffee and the other one I heat and pour over some custard as it is more like a pudding texture.  Not a problem - 2 types of dessert from 1 recipe  ;)  I had to cook one 5 minutes longer and the other I did 10 minutes but it didn't seem to want to cook properly.  I used 160oC F/F but will up the temperature to 180 next time to see if that helps.  Very tasty recipe. The photo is of the one I serve with butter as a cake.

Hi Judy, yes ovens can vary a lot so it's always good to test a few different settings. Your cake looks great and I'm glad you liked it. Don't know why the other didn't cook, was it on a different shelf in the oven ? Did you add the extra 20 minutes covered with foil?

I have made this cake 4 times and it works out perfectly each time. So it is a mystery.

Sorry nonomix, just saw your reply.  Do you know what, I don't remember cooking it for an extra 20 minutes with alfoil at all.  I think I read the first cooking time, set the timer and didn't keep reading the recipe  :-)) :-))  No wonder they both needed some more cooking time but it still doesn't explain why one was cooked and the other wasn't as they both shouldn't have been cooked at all ;D
One of the tins was bigger than the other but I put less filling in the bigger one to compensate for that.  OK, my mistake but the cake wasn't wasted and is being used.

Guess we all slip up occasionally Uni.  I suppose I just presumed a cake time would just be the one amount, as most are.  My mistakes are usually because I haven't read something properly or have skipped a line in the method but I still haven't had to throw anything out for a very long time.

Made this tonight but didnt cook with foil inthe second cooking time as it wasnt browned after the 35 mins...so cooked the whole time without... Had the same thing happen as jd.. One was more cooked than the other.. They were on the same level in theoven so dont know why.. Both cooked justone more than the other.. I still had large chunks of banana when mixing so mixed a little more until no noticable chunks of banana.. Havent tasted yet as still cooling..





With the cake that was less cooked I just left it in the oven after turning it off and it was fine..

Thanks jd... Just tasted and they are so good... Lovely recipe :). Dh is taking one cake to work tomorrow.. Saves me eating it lol.. Need to go on a diet badly :(

They are gorgeous Frozzie! The cooking time seems to throw off a few people but in the end, it's trial and error as every oven is different. Glad you liked the cakes, they are always a hit at my house but I find that they are much nicer warm. The next day, I always reheat my slice a few seconds in the microwave to get that "just out of the oven" feeling!
