Washing Machine Goo (Detergent)

judydawn I honestly only put about 20 drops in. I'm not really that big on smelly clothing but a hint is just nice, this is my test case anyway

I've put in my diary when I made the soap and will see how long it lasts and if any buildup occurs etc.

No, me neither but I thought I'd try it for once.  There is nothing fresher than hanging your clothes out on the line on a lovely sunny, blowy day for that lovely fresh smell - something sadly lacking this winter.

I am missing the fresh smell of line dried clothes, too and don't know when I will get it back.
The wolfhound pup (now 7 months old) thinks that the washing was put there for her.  I found all of one load and all the pegs on her bed!
Hoping that she comes out of this phase quite soon.
With a household of 5 people that means a lot of washing draping around the house!!

I made the goo about 3 - 4 weeks ago in my processor before I got my TM. 

Have been using it all this time and found it worked well, but have noticed just recently that some of our clothes are starting to look a little 'dull'. Probably because store bought detergent has optical whiteners and brighteners that this home made stuff hasn't.  I therefore have started to use it less, inbetween using store bought detergent.

You sure she didn't just bring it in out of the rain for you Amanda    Oh dear, what a problem you have there, you might have to fence off the clothes line    Can you bring a photo of her to our coffee day please?

I had to buy a little fence for the clothes line at the clinic - my two dogs think that the nurses hang the old towels and blankets out purely for their amusement.

Never see them do it - but one loves chewing pegs

Hello All, Have found another way to use the washing machine goo. About 2 months ago I washed my windows with it and since then there has been no frog poo anywhere on them!!!  Before as soon as I washed them the bloody frogs would come along at night and use the windows as their loo while they where chasing moths and such, but since using the goo not a mark on them, it must be the amonia they don`t like. Well I hope some of you will like this option as I will be using it all the time now. Sandy

Sandy, you lead a very interesting life in the country.  I have never heard of frogs using windows for toilets.  Love the image.

Lol Sandy it is almost poetic with all the rhyming words (goo, loo and poo  ) -don't have the frog problems, just dirty windows so will put it to use anyway

How versatile this goo is becoming.  I wonder if it would help keep cats from marking their territory on your front door (my neighbour has this problem) by washing things down with it.

I think I remember something about avoiding the use of ammonia based cleaning products to clean up cat and dog urine - as ammonia is one of the naturally occurring substances in urine (to mark territory) and it then actually encourages the cat/dog to return to that spot to wee again - it might have the opposite effect and the neighbourhood cats may flock to your neighbours judydawn!!

LOL ....I think we'd better stop there Karen - or one of us will be coming up with a recipe for that one in the TM !   

I will be making a new batch of washing goop soon (first lot has lasted good 3 weeks - we do a wash or two every day) and will try it with bicarb instead of ammonia and will let you all know how it goes.

I am also not too keen on the ammonia smell - I am going to try another recipe this week - check this website for lots of variations. It does work quite well but difficult to pour into container as so thick.

Thanks for that info alioop, would have been a disaster to use the goo in that situation. Neighbour wouldn't have been a happy chappy at all.  Apparently sprinkling white pepper around helps solve this problem I found by googling.
