Yes, I bought some very ripe ones last year and I still have a pack of the puree in the freezer.  Would be nice to add to plain yoghurt or over ice-cream. I'd cut any dark spots out before eating them Amy, did you peel them - I do.

Excellent! I just hope Woolworths have more when I go tomorrow. They only had 4 last time I was there :-\

Yoghurt and persimmon puree sounds yummy :D

Yes, I did peel them Judy. It was actually quite fun learning about a new fruit. I was really excited cutting into the first one because I had no idea what it would look like inside.

I would have cut the dark spots out, but they were tiny and there were lots of them and I just wanted to eat my yummy persimmon... :)

I love most fruit especially melons, strawberries and paw-paws, but cannot recommend any particular recipe for fruit though, as I never cook it.  Prefer to eat it as it is, or in smoothies, fruit salads or with cheese.

I have never been able to get my head around eating fruit with cheese... ??? I always had cheese in savoury dishes and fruit in sweet dishes, so I couldn't figure out how they would work together. What sort of fruit do you eat with cheese JB?

I just finished making a batch of feta so I might have to try the watermelon and feta salad....I assume you just chop each of them up and mix together?

Amy, apples and grapes are the more usual fruits to serve with cheese, together with quince paste as suggested by fundj.  Cheese and biscuits can be quite dry on their own.  If I have cubes of cheese in a salad I find that pomegranates seeds sprinkled over top are a nice addition.

This may be a dumb question (I'm a pro at those ;)) but how do you serve it? Do you just get a chunk of cheese and a whole grape and put them in your mouth at once? Or would you cut the grapes in half and maybe arrange them on little bits of cheese? I'm guessing you just slice the apple and layer it with a slice of cheese?

I usually put a piece of quince paste onto a piece of cheese and eat it that way Amy but with with the other fruit on a platter I eat them separately to the cheese. Cheese can leave a dryness in the mouth and the juicy fruit is the complete opposite.  That's just me though - others may be different.

Ahh, I think I see. They are served together as a contrast? As you say Judy, the dryness of the cheese with the cripness and juiciness of the fruit? That would make sense....

I just tried grapefruit for the first time and it was disgusting! It was very bitter and didn't seem to have any flavour underneath the bitterness. Are all grapefruits like this? If they are, how are you supposed to eat them? ???
