Glad to see you back Queen Be . Sorry to hear about your SIL, but it sounds like your niece had a lovely holiday.
I cut it fine at the market yesterday, and came  home right on budget. No money left for anything else this week.
At the market I bought a half share in a box of green tomatoes and 5 kg of capsicums, but we didn't have any recipes in mind. We thought that we would need sugAr, as I  had no spAre supplies in my cupboard. DH Offered to go to the supermarket, and came back with 8 kg of sugar and 5 tins of baked beans as they were on special. As it turns out, we only used about 1 kg of the sugar. My friend has taken 2 kg, but I now have to find a home for the baked beans and  5 kg of sugar, and I've gone over budget.  :(
I did use up 3 bottles of vinegar that had been there for a long time, and I only plan on replacing the balsamic. That has freed up a little space for the sauce and chutney I've made. My tin cupboard is still full, but at least I have used up 4 tins of tomatoes in tonight's dinner. I hate to think how many tins of tomatoes I originally had in the cupboard. I've used at least one tin a week, and haven't bought any for 5 weeks. ;D

Love this challenge. ;D ;D ;D ;D I have cooked all day and used up lots of stuff.  When I shopped last Sat.  I just topped up a few things,  Just bought small quantities.  Think I will continue to do this. Going to the Bendigo Wool show  on Friday,  not much food to buy there so should be safe.

So sorry to hear about your SIL Be, my thoughts are with your family, been through it myself so I can relate.
I'm not sticking to budget this week, we were away for a week & I've done a big shop to re-stock - haven't added it up but I think it will be close to $200! I'll start again next week, but I'll aim for $120/week including meat from now on.

Bee, so sorry to hear about your SIL, a very sad time for everyone.

I was in budget last week   ;D my DH is enjoying this challenge! Only had a few things to buy last week, came in at $88. I spent $50 at the Health Food Shop for 4 items. Ouch.

Will see how I go this week. Will be out of veggies and low on meat, so will have a bit to buy.

Well I've gone over my $175 allowance for the 5 of us.  I went shopping hungry (I knew better).  I did come out with some yummy things though. Such as, king crab to have with home made pasta tonight.  Calamari as a treat for my youngest, he just loves s & p calamari.

Also bought macadamia nuts and choc chips which weren't necessary but you only live once.   ;D

I also needed to make sure there enough things for the kids to take to school for lunches.  Youngest goes to a nut free school so it isn't as easy as a peanut butter sandwich for him.

Groceries $184.41 plus I went to the spice bazaar and bought some spice mixes, fried onion and a heap of peppercorns.  ( I hate running out of pepper)  8) that was about $24.00.

I'll make up for the $13.40 over spend next week!   ;D

Only $13 over. It's probably a big savings on what you normally spend though.

I know exactly where to put my hands on mine but we haven't had macadamias in their shell since we toured Qld 21 years ago.
