Drama drama drama.

I have been trying for three weeks to get my Telstra Account changed into my name. It finally happened yesterday that they gave me a new account in my name, acknowledged that my husband was indeed dead and that I was not a risk of not paying their magical account!

With that done they disconnected me from the  Internet. thank you Telstra. I was told firstly it would take 2 hours to reconnect even though it took a nano second to disconnect. Then I was told after 2 hours waiting it would  be reconnected between 8pm and midnight.

This morning I went to connect and found it not,  so back to Telstra who told me that because I did not  have a Telstra modem they were unable to help me.  I explained that the Telstra modem I did  have was absolute crap and was told by a Telstra techie to get a Netgear which  I did. That cost me $$ to buy and extra $$ to install.

Ok so here we are at  0600 this morning calling Netgear to get the secret code to my now 2 year old modem  only to be told it would cost me$49.99 .  I declined. Worked on it until 0800  Then called my friendly computer guy to be told it would cost $90 call out and $90 and hour.  I declined.

So after uninstalling and re installing the modem got it working for two computers but not for my iMac.  Working working away until 1030 when I finally figured out the Apple devices. So 4 1/2 hours and all done thank you very much Telstra.

Discoverd  a few things. First you can cry and wail and say why me. This achieves nothing but it feels good. Then you  can curse the Gods of all things technical. This achieves nothing and and has no therapeutic effect.  Then you get the lightbulb moment and realise these things are usually designed by men so it has to be simple. Then they make the language obscure so as to fool the punter.

Well lo and behold if you think like a woman  these nasty little an tricks can be solved  using woman logic which is far superior to man logic. The secret is to look  closely ignoring the crap men write, follow the links  and all will be revealed. Never be scared of pushing the wrong buttons, unplugging, rebooting , uninstall and reinstall and generally messing about.

After sorting that I then discovered Telstra had wiped out the credit of over $300 on one of my iPads. I am wondering if I have the strength to go to the Telstra shop to get that sorted!

It is 5 minutes at best from my house to the Telstra shop. It took me over an hour while the tech guy waited on the phone with the billing department to get only part of my credit back. They gave me $300 but I believe it was $354.24.

I will consider myself lucky to get what I got back.

I hope this is the last I will have to deal with Telstra for the rest of my life. The most  inefficient company I have had to deal  with in 71 years. Not even the government bureaucracy is as inefficient.

Oh Gert, you must be exhausted.  What a great job you did, when all else fails do it yourself and you deserve that glass of bubbly you're probably having right now.

Oh Gert, I feel for you. I went through exactly the same thing with Telstra. 12 years ago they disconnected my phone too and it took me 3 days to get a landline back in my name. Also took me 6 months to cancel my DH's mobile phone.

Take care Gert and if you have to deal with companies on the phone, brew yourself a nice coffee and have some light reading at hand, beats listening to the useless information they repeat in between the elevator music.

Gert I do so admire you. Well done. Telstra seem to drive everyone mad.

Telstra haven't given me too many headaches over the years and I really appreciated the extra 45 gbs  they recently gave me for nothing.

We are now free of Telstra after similar bothers.
Amaysim for mobiles fantastic plans and service.
Internode for landline and internet.
Also no issues.
I just don't like the way Telstra makes life complicated for people who don't need it!
Hang in there Gert!

Good morning Mab!

It's such a beautiful morning after the rain and gloom we had for most of the day yesterday.  Have houseworky things to do today before watching the footy this arvo.  Making a roast for dinner.  :D

Oh Gert, sometimes it feels like it takes more energy than you have to deal with those "can't do" people.
Well done.
Big hugs to you
