A gas weber or 2 would alleviate all your space problems Chookie, cook the meat outside and leave the oven for veggies.

Judy, I have a large gas BBQ but don't want to be running out side to check.
It is really just Ral and I who like the hot Xmas lunch. The family are just as happy with cold. Solution is hot dinner of Turkey night before and then cold for lunch.

I'm the same Chookie, must have at least one hot turkey lunch around Christmas time. I'll be joining Mum & Geoff at Wesley this year, they have a 3 course meal there which includes prawn cocktail for entree.

Hello everyone and I hope you are all having a lovely weekend.
Chookie, well done to your GD, 2nd place in a first time competition is wonderful.
I think we are doing a .Christmas brunch at the beach. DD suggested it, the 3 GK's get up soooo early Christmas morning, they are too ratty to sit down at 1 for a proper meal, so I think that will be the way to go ,this year anyway.
We will probably go back to her place for desserts, or maybe later in the day, haven't decided yet. The beach they go to is close by to their house, they have lots of lawn, playground and bbq's. Youngest DS in Melbourne not coming over this year. Number 2 son and his partner will join us also.
At the village where we live, the chef is doing Christmas lunch in the dining room for anyone who wants to do that, it is for families also should they wish to join in. Of course we will pay for it, but it's another option for us although we need to add our name to the list, so not sure we want to commit at this point.

Chookie how wonderful for you to listen to bagpipes and for the band to come second is excellent.
Katj it sounds as though your Christmas will be a little different this year. A new tradition starting.
We don't even have turkey anymore at Christmas. We seem to be left with a lot of turkey leftovers. I find the best is to get a turkey breast and stuff and roll it myself. The bought ones seem very salty. I haven't ordered one this year. We have an all cold meal. I can't remember ever having a
Hot lunch even as a kid. I guess wood fires and 40+degrees were discouraging to Mum and Dad. No air con in those days either. I don't mind at all as I do it on Christmas Eve and then do very little Christmas Day.

cookie, I also love a cold Christmas lunch/dinner, last time I had a hot one was as a child, I never did enjoy a hot roast type meal. Give me a selection of beautiful salads any day. I usually do a turkey breast also. We will have seafood with our salads. And of course the best part, desserts!
I always make way too much but that's because I like to relax for a few days after and eat leftovers.
Has anyone heard from Thermilover, whether she has had her baby yet?

Good Evening
Well you all seem very organised for Christmas. I'm very lucky this year to be going to middle stepdaughters place for lunch this year. We all bring along a few dishes. Katie wanted to do all the cooking but it's far too much catering for our mob.

Good morning everyone. I love hearing about your different Christmas Day plans, there are so many options families go with these days. I knew a family who used to meet in a local park with a playground when their children were young to have a very relaxed Christmas Day picnic.
Have fun in the kitchen Chookie, making Thermomix gifts is so much fun.
