I’m glad she is enjoying it, she deserves to make the most of it.

I know fresh food is expensive but this is crazy. I bought 6 red skin large potatoes, $6.40. I wanted to try a particular recipe. Our home grown ones are not ready to harvest. I visited a wholesale warehouse and bought 5 k of potatoes for $10. Before the pandemic I was paying $5 for same potatoes. Must try not to waste anything.

A sign of things to come Chookie. Everyone’s noticing the higher prices and it must be hard for some families.

I agree Chookie it is beyond a joke. I'm finding I'm having to buy things I wouldn't normally as our supermarket shelves are so very empty. It is impossible to buy a decent brand of yoghurt. DH and DD will have to eat my homemade yoghurt with some fruit puree in it. What is even worse is that we have a good local brand but even that is not on the shelves.

Supply of produce isn't too bad here, I can generally get what I want (at a price) but the dollar certainly doesn't stretch as far as it used to.

The Melb Age newspaper, Good Food section has an interesting article about misconceptions of baking ingredients. It is well worth a read, if only to confirm what you already know. When I am looking at new recipes I only use those that give measurements in grams or litres.

We had a phone call from the air conditioning people at lunch time asking if they could come and install the new air con.  They are here now making a fair bit of noise but I don't mind as I will be glad when it is going.  I am not a hot weather person.

You won’t know yourself Mab. I’m sick and tired of the heat over here. It wears me out. It has been the hottest January and February on record. We are forecast for some 27 degree days at the end of next week.

That’s still a long way off cookie, I feel for you - continued temperatures like you have would really sap your energy levels, not to mention your electricity bills!  I haven’t had to use my a/c at all so far this summer.

Mab, that will be very nice.
Cookie, I don’t know how you have survived and then to have had an increase of Covid.
GS has nearly finished replacing all the down lights in the kitchen/ living area. The led lights have made a big difference.
DD has reached Flinders Island, after a long paddle. They are at Killiecrankie where Australian topaz are found.

What an amazing thing they are doing Chookie. I admire them.
Judy our air con is on continually. I try not to turn it on until it reaches 32, but on the bad days it’s 32 at 8.30am. Our solar panels help a lot with the electricity bills.
