Looks like the girls will be stuck on Flinders Island until the weather changes. They need winds and tides in the right place to move.
We are on the edge of the heavy rain moving south. Don’t think we will get any rain.

I'm sure the community will keep an eye on them.

I am sure the lovely people on Flinders Island will pitch in and help, but have they have planned for the contingencies of a long stop. I am sure their support team has, but do they have sufficient supplies and food if they have to stay any length of time?

Not worried about the girls on Flinders Island. They are extremely well prepared and very resourceful. I said I would send a helicopter in to rescue them if they got into trouble. They said, don’t bother, the park rangers and water police would do that if necessary.
We have had a little rain which is nice.
Another photo from the girls. Not all paddling. Hiking up Strezlecki peak.

Full of energy but I guess you wouldn’t embark on a journey like that if you weren’t.  They may as well make the most of it and see everything they can.

More on the girls in Bass Straight. The twins celebrated their 40 th Birthday. A local Cafe owner cooked a Crayfish for them. They caught fish and Abalone. A group of elderly tourists gave them a lift into town in their mini bus and also gave them a bottle of wine. They bought cake and salad.
They are on their last leg and after a couple of over night stays on Clarke Island, hope to reach Tassie and home next Monday. Part of their trips purpose was to collect samples of rubbish for an environmental group. Plastic and rubber in particular.

It is a sad thought that there is rubbish out there.

They are all amazing, Chookie
.
DH said to me last night that the weight of all the plastics in the sea outweighs all the sea creatures combined. .. such a sad indictment of our society

I know plastics are a very big problem but can’t understand how it gets into the water and oceans.
DD and twins are paddling 60 k today. Hope to reach Tassie tomorrow. It will be nice to have her home.
Good news. GD in second year at Uni is finally having some face to face lectures.

It will be nice to have DD back home Chookie. You have to wonder how Covid has affected the schooling of our children/grand-children - nothing can beat face too face teaching.

After such an adventure, it will take DD quite a while to come back 'down' again after she gets back home.  She will have lots of stories to tell - "tall tales, but true".

DD sent a message late last night. Arrived at Clarke Island after paddling into the wind for much of the day. Hope to reach Tassie today ( 20 ks) but the weather doesn’t look good. They will do what is appropriate.
Went to Bunnings yesterday for some cardboard boxes to finish the front garden bed. Bought a large potted dish of salad veggies. The lady at checkout said it was probably cheaper than buying salad at Supermarket !
