What an idyllic looking spot, Chookie, I am sure they will be enjoying a well earned break.

We had our friend's daughter and her partner from NSW with us last night they leave this morning on the ferry to Tasmania, it will be a quicker but not as adventurous trip over for them!

Judy, not much comfort for the girls, as we know it. This is the showering facility.

This is the hot water service. A chip heater.

They’re certainly roughing it then. When I first married in 1956 we lived with then-husband’s grandmother for 18 months and she only had a chip heater in the bathroom. I knew no-one else who did at that time so it was certainly a step back in time for me.

Yes ,Judy it is extreme roughing it. They sleep in tiny tents and live outside mostly. They say plenty of fish to catch but don’t do this often as other than going for a swim to clean up they can’t afford o waste their fresh water.
This is a photo of their kitchen. The big white thing in the front is a whale bone. On the extreme left is a broom. The lass in the photo is wearing on of the tops with the Aboriginal art work.

I take my hat off to the girls, they’re certainly roughing it . It’s nice to see the locals popping in to say hello.

Thought I would share this with you.  DD and 2 other young woman have spent the last 2 weeks pretty much in isolation, hopping ( paddling) from deserted island to deserted island, across Bass Straight. They have arrived now at Flinders Island where there are small settlements along the coast. People at these settlements are pleased to see them and are helping them pull there kayaks up, driving them around and feeding them. Some are following them with drones and sending them photos. DD said they feel like paddling rock stars. This is one of the drone photos.

What an adventure. I’m sure the girls are pleased to have a hot shower, even if they have to light the chip heater.

So nice to have friendly folk around when they call into the islands. I don’t suppose they knew they were going to have kayak visitors.

Great photos, thanks for including us in their adventure.  Lovely that the locals are so welcoming and it would also give them the chance to top up their fresh water reserves and enjoy a change of diet.  I really admire their determination and resilience.

I didn’t realise that the kayaks would be hard to see. They are the 3 tiny spots in the lower right hand side of the photo.
DD said that a lady who runs a food caravan on the beach, gave them all the leftover gourmet cake and curried vegetables.
It is so nice to see kind and generous people when there is so much nastiness in the world. I am pleased that DD is experiencing such generosity when she often does this in a professional capacity.
Another nice mild day today.
