When I go to Queenstown NZ in winter snow season I do as Kim says and wear layers, and a warm scarf, gloves and a beanie. That way you keep warm but if too warm you can always remove a layer. You can buy lightweight merino clothing which is great in cold weather but not bulky at all. I use my northface jacket on top of layered clothing and jeans/ pants and boots. Also keep an umbrella in your handbag as you may need it often. At least you have lots of time to shop around online and no doubt you will get a lot more advice and suggestions on this amazing forum.  :D

No problem MF not many people know about the course it only started about 5 years ago and they only take about 50 applicants.

Thanks Kim I thought the Oz stuff would be not warm enough. DD could get something but I would rather pick something myself.
I have been researching the net and found a place (ON line shopping) called Land's End. Have you heard of it or do you know any other sites?
Good advice from Kim Yvette ;) Lands End is OK but not top of the range stuff but for the length if time you are in Europe it will probably do.Look for some warm boots as well ;D

I'll ask my DS when he gets home Yvette. He tends to know all about good clothing. He bought me a wonderful coat that I wear when walking Chance in this cold weather by the the name of "Jack Wolfskin"

I live about 40 miles from London Yvette. It takes me 45 minutes on the train but if I drove it would take me anything from 1 hour to 11/2 hours depending on the traffic. :-\
