Merry Xmas everyone.

Joined our friends last night for their Xmas Eve get together, but had an early night.

Roasting hot here today so we are just taking it easy.  DH has crashed on the bed with the curtains closed to keep out the heat and the ceiling fan on high.  I was just dozing off when my DS her son and his partner called from NZ, so it was lovely to catch up with them all.

DH and I are both absolutely exhausted after a hard year which is why we are enjoying a quiet and relaxing day today before starting the never ending task of keeping the house and property in order tomorrow.

I hope it is cooler for you all tomorrow, especially you Marina as you sound as though you will be very busy.

Hi friends.
Not too early a start with GS, he woke about 5.45am. A mild day here about 14c but the temperature is going to drop to about -4c in a few days time

DH and I agreed not to buy each other gifts but he had other ideas and surprised me with an iPad Air 2. DS is going to help me set it up tomorrow.

Morning all.
First time ever we had a cold lunch for Xmas Day. So glad. It was 34 degrees. We had 7 children and they were all very well behaved. Too much food as everyone brought too much. Sent most home with visitors and kept enough for today's visitors.
CC, what a lovely surprise. We had a similar arrangement but there appeared a large shape , wrapped in a sheet under the tree. Ral had bought me a Dyson fan. One of those oval things with a hole in the centre.
The highlight of our day was when the kids discovered a family with 6  ducklings on the lake.
Hope everyone continues to enjoys the festive season .

Good morning everyone, how have you pulled up this morning?  I had a relaxing day with Mum and Geoff yesterday, the family called in before lunch.  So many residents stayed in for lunch but it was way too hot really to take them out into the 43 degree heat.  We were oblivious to the heat and the 7 hours I was there went pretty quickly.

Chookie & Denise, both DHs not sticking to the agreement - how spoilt were you both!  It's nice to receive a special surprise like that.

Marina, I hope you both can take time out for yourselves but it's hard when there are so many jobs to do during your break.

I got another 4 cookbooks, so was very happy.

My Brother and Niece are coming up for today, have not seen them since March, when we were in Melbourne.
I have friends coming over this afternoon to catch up too.,

Lovely gifts CC and Chookie.  Obbie, lots more cooking for you.
DH and I don't do presents either but there was a nice little heart shaped pendant in my stocking this year.  DD also gave me a steam mop for the floors, I think perhaps because I borrow hers occassionally.

Lovely surprise gifts Chookie, Denise and Margaret. We had the same arrangement but a reverse happening. I bought DH a couple of gifts. He is a Christmas Grinch so I'm not surprised after all these years.
Chookie you will have to tell us how the fan is.

It started raining an hour or two ago so the temperature has dropped and it is wonderful here just now.  I've got to cook something in the oven and I was dreading it, but it will be OK now that it is lovely and cool

Sounds like everyone enjoyed a lovely Christmas day.
DH and I don't exchange gifts usually. This year I bought a small stocking and filled it with little things DH enjoys such as ferrero rocher chocolates, coffee voucher for Gloria Jeans', Portugese chilli nuts etc. He suprised me with a Westfield voucher.

Visitor for lunch today who bought some gifts from a kind person who I met at the Woodend Swap table. This lady is a much better cook and gardener than I am and sent some lovely crisp Chai biscuits and a lovely dish of Pate. Nothing like such a pleasant surprise.
It is lovely and cool here today, and lightly raining.

DD,SIL and GS have now left. DH and I have our feet up enjoying a cuppa.Its been a hectic few days. DS arrives later to help me set up my new iPad.

Yours is the only Christmas table we've seen this year Chookie, I love seeing how people set theirs, it looks lovely..  It used to be one of my favourite things to do.
