Thanks ladies, it was a shock to get the phone call.  DB ended up have a quadruple bypass and all went well.  I spoke with him this morning and he was out of bed and sitting in a chair.  He said he feels well but a little tired.
The  man who said it can't be done should not interupt the woman doing it.

At the Gym yesterday, had an interesting discussion with the instructor. He said that recent research shows that social isolation of the elderly has a  more profound impact on the health than anything else including drink and drugs.

I certainly believe that Chookie. So many people over ?? Can’t or won’t go out. I had a friend who used to say she didn’t want to go out but used to make herself.

Isolation is quite an issue in Ballarat as older people move there because of the excellent health services. But they leave their social networks , a partner dies and the remaining one is often left in isolation.

That's sad. I believe things are similar in Busselton over here too. I remember being told by Amanda when we were going to Port Lincoln that it was known as God's waiting room.

They are looking at solutions. One is investigating the role of Probus in communities. There are 24 Probus clubs in Ballarat. However one of the Committee leader told me that of the 6 who joined when I did, only 3 are active. That is attend activities.
Another suggestion is to place a person in Dr clinics to identify those at risk.

It is sad to hear, I can understand it if people have had their drivers licence taken away but we have to live whilst we can. Let’s hope a solution can be found to help these people.

Sad Chookie. Possibly it wasn't to the liking of one but probably not all 3.

Interesting conversations. The art session today I’m going to is set up and funded currently until 2016, for social connection and to alleviate isolation. I love it. It’s fortnightly but I can’t always go due to work.
Please kindly sign me to almond crackle biscuits, they sound great and a search didn’t bring them up.
Hope your brother doing well Mab.

DJ, the Almond Crackle biscuits are one of most popular.  If they are sticky on the back when you make them, turn them over and place back in the switched off oven with the door ajar. They will dry out and keep well. They are gluten free.
