We picked the olives from our tree today. Last year we got 11 olives. This year we got 4 large buckets full.

Great lot of olives Cookie!
I've had 2 GK's for the whole day, 2 & 4. Just got back from DD after dropping them home. I'm exhausted, the humidity today didn't help.

Grand-children do tire us out Katj - they know how to make us feel old unfortunately.

What is DH doing with the olives cookie, I don't eat them so have no idea what you do with them straight off the tree.

I love home made olives. What sort are they?

Where is BZB? Busy no doubt.

The olives are UC ???  Big ones like Kalamata. They have to be treated to reduce all the bitterness in them. Then soaked and eventually pickled.
We soak them in a Caustic Soda solution for a certain time. Then wash thoroughly and soak in water for a certain number of days. Repeat this and ultimately put them in a vinegar/ water solution with flavourings. We use garlic and chilli mostly.

Today our baby left, we thought we had him until the end of March but not to be.  They found a long term carer close to his home area. Feeling happy for him but sad, from planning for 6 weeks to only having him for one. He was 9 months old and not sitting when he arrived and in just a week he was sitting for 30 sec and balancing himself.  Best sleeper I have ever had, 12 hour nights. So what have I been doing, lots of washing.
Have a great day everyone.
Denise

I would love to do that. Love the process . Packing up my distillery for sale I think. No time to brew these days.

Gert, that is no good about the distillery.

If I remember I will bring some processed olives over in October, then we can all taste them.
