Take  It slowly Troupie. You will be stiff after a fall.  Agreed you need to exercise, helps with your balance as you get older.

Take care Troupie. Thinking of you.

I have a question for forum members. I have asked this of some health professionals and they didn't really have an answer.
At what age does 'falling over' become 'a fall?'
I must admit I don't really have a definitive answer for myself.

I think any fall as an adult is a concern!
We have weekly classes at our physio which is stretching, balance and falls prevention. Most of us are 40 to 50 with an older group on another day of the week. The classes are vey popular and great fun and really get your balance and fitness up to prevent falls. I highly recommend them as falls are nasty no matter what your age.

Good advice. Any fall is a worry - over 40's should start putting their hands on rails as the climb or descend stairs so it is second nature in our later years.

Good advice mcmich.
Also no ladders after 50 years of age. Statistically a ladder fall at 50 and over leaves permanent injury. If you are falling frequently it may be worth having medication reviewed and blood pressure etc checked.
Go carefully every one and slow down a little so we enjoy a healthy aging.

I'd say all ages should hold onto the rails!

I'm a fair bit under 40 and am recovering from a broken leg that was the result of walking down stairs in the dark and not holding on to the railing.

Even when you're young the recovery is very very long.

Once you turn 40 you start to lose muscle, which is a natural occur acne. Important to keep up with some form of weights  exercise and also make sure you are getting enough calcium for bond strength. It maybe the difference between breaking a bone when you fall or not.
Lots of classes out there for seniors!

Don't sweat it Kimmy - 40 is young!
I must admit that I slipped on a piece of fruit that the kids dropped on the floor last week. I was like a cartoon character slipping on a banana peel. One moment I was upright, and the next minute my feet disappeared under me and I was on the floor. It happened in a heartbeat! Luckily I was carrying some washing and because my hands were occupied, I didn't hurt my wrists too badly. They only hurt when pressing down on them, like grating cheese or doing push ups.
I joined a gym this year and have been working on strengthening my core and my balance too.

You're still young too Robyn. We should try to enjoy life no matter what our age.

Kimmy, I didn't mean to sound like the prophet of doom. Lol.
Age is just a number, means nothing. It's how you live your life, and life is sooo good after 40 and onwards!
