I visited the eye specialist this morning. All is wonderful with my eye. Next one early May.

Supermarket shopping this morning, still lots of empty shelves.  Then walked around the town doing odd jobs.
The  man who said it can't be done should not interupt the woman doing it.

I did my grocery shop this morning too and then we went down to Fremantle for lunch. It was lovely.

Two weeks ago Ral had an operation for what they thought was diverticulitis. Instead they found a burst apses on the bowel which had penetrated the bowel wall. A 3 1/2 op by 2 specialists. Further tests have revealed cancer. He starts chemo tomorrow. He is in good spirits but looks awful. He has private room at St John’s and a team of wonderful Doctors. COVID regulations allow for 1 visitor a day for max of 2 hours. They close a blind eye to how long I stay. I’m as good as can be expected. Lots of support from family, friends and neighbours. Any news will not be good news.

I have been thinking of you two over the past couple of days and dreaded hearing such news. I am sure Ral is well cared for and in the best of hands and hope the chemo is successful.  All our love and support go to you both, we are with you in spirit and if ever we can help you in any way please do not hesitate to contact us.  Through this time of turmoil be sure to care for yourself as well.

Thank you for sharing this with us Chookie, you know that those of us who have met you and your gorgeous husband absolutely adore the two of you. Stay strong dear Chookie and let your family and friends do whatever they can do to help you through this sad and trying time. As hard as it will be for him, I wish him success with the chemo and send all my love and hope to you both. Xx

Judy, Cookie ... I agree totally, I always battle with the right words, but they don't always come out as I had hoped.  DH and I have a great fondness for both Bess and Ral and are deeply distressed at this news.

We have only met Chookie and Ral when they came to WA forumfest and then I saw them again in Tasmania. It’s easy to be fond of lovely people.

Last night we watched DS play in the men’s hockey team . The opposing team have played together for 20 years !! They are very fast , as in the hitting the ball . This is quite scary for all . We got one goal . All our team had done a school house 4.5 k cross country run that day too . DS drove home , night hours . DS was telling us all the antics the kids got up to on Central Australia camp .

Today, I have been baking. I’m feeling a lot more positive. Not sure if it is the wonderful support from fiends, including the Forum family, ( thank you) or the fact that Ral has started prep forChemo.  He is also is in a better frame of mind and looks a lot better.
DS visited from Melbourne and fixed my hearing aides. Last week he fixed he dishwasher that wasn’t emptying and set up my Google home so I could play my selection of  music on Spotify. I bought a cheap subscription to Netflix so I could watch some movies.

I enjoy listening to my era songs on the Google home.
I’m pleased Ral is looking a little better.  It has been a shock to you all and certainly disrupts life. Sending hugs to you both.
