Don't feel bad Hally, my first batch of mashed potatoes turned out to be like glue. TMX had been in the house for all of two weeks and I had friends over for dinner, came home very late from work and had to go straight to the kitchen to prepare vegies. Lucky DH had baked some lovely salmon and all I had to do was some vegies in TMX (to show off of course). I put too much water in because I was scared the amount suggested in the recipe wouldn't be enough. What a disaster. It was like runny glag glue from school.
Naturally I blamed the cook and not the machine.

Hally, hope you re feeling better today. You've had a rough couple of weeks.
I've never tried mashed potatoes in the TMX - I have read so many different posts about them that I'm now a little hesitant to have a go.

Well the tablets dont seem to be making me any better.
Mashed potato normally a cinch, can do it with my eyes closed. As Gert said the one ptato I tried was cooked, the others werent.
It is the best way to do mash.

Hello Hally
What you describe with the potatoes I don't think was your fault. It sounds like what we call glassy potatoes. Sometimes when I prepare the potatoes I find that the centre of the potato looks a different colour, almost transparent to the rest. If they are like this no amount of cooking will soften them. I usually throw them out and don't cook them. You will end up with lumps in the mash or if blended little hard bits. Sometimes only one potato in the bag is like it but if cooked will go all through the rest if mashed. Hope this may help.
