WARNING! Don't do this to your TMX

Yesterday DH was using the knead function, and walked away from the machine. CRASH! One TMX hits the floor
The lid is cracked and split quite badly, but it still appeared to work OK. I thought (after my initial angry response "you did WHAT??") I would just have to buy another lid. We tested the scales and the temperature, and they seemed to still be calibrated and accurate.
But today, while cooking with liquid things, I realised the bottom of the jug leaks. And it is not stuff coming out of the cracked lid and down the sides. Somehow it must have bent the jug, and anything liquid leaks out the bottom of the jug and over the pins etc etc .....
Luckily we have a second bowl set, because it looks like this one is broken
So the lesson is ........ never
(let DH use the TMX)
walk away from TMX when it is kneading.

Karen, what a disaster and so easy to happen. Lucky you have a second jug.
I read this post and thought what would I have done? And thought it wouldn't have been pretty

Oh dear Karen, that is terrible. I have heard of many a mixer coming off the bench whilst kneading dough.
Lucky you have another jug. I bet Dh won't do that again.

. . . . or set it up on the floor with no place to go!! Oh Karen - big deep breath!!! I know WE know we need to keep an eye on it kneading . . but others I imagine aren't quite as used to the little quirks - such as it doing the polka over the bench top on this setting. Your poor DH! I really feel for him!!

Chookie - I think I wanted to throw it at him - but the poor thing looked so crestfallen (and a bit scared of me I think) that I couldn't really say what I really wanted to. Still, lesson learned!

Lucky you have an extra jug and you can keep cooking, but that's so awful for you. I guess the bright side of the story is your TMX is ok and it's just the jug. It could have been worse.
I can imagine your DH would have felt terrible.

Oh you poor thing!! I know just how you feel as I had one of my DS's drop mine helping pack for a demo one day. Your heart certainly stops beating!! If I need to walk away from mine for a short time now I push it to the back of the bench and pace a plastic bowl in front of it ... If the bowl hits the floor I know I need to run ... Very fast!

I agree, - Just think of it this way . . . the jug can easily be replaced . . . the DH (who sounds as though he's worth a heck of a lot more than a kitchen appliance) can't be . . . .
Please someone correct me if I'm wrong . . I think it was Thermomixer who suggested placing it in a clean dry sink . . . .(was it making the quince paste? Can't quite remember . . . .)

I held my breath while I waited for this thread to load Karen, I was really worried for you and your TMT!!
If that happened to me, I think I would cry. But luckily the only man in this house is SD, and he knows not to touch my favourite toy or else he won't get dinner

Kathryn, I really like your tip of putting the empty plastic bowl in front of the TMX - such a simple but incredibly practical idea. Thanks for passing that on.
