Thanks gert... Yes happy and i will be getting visitors to bring me cheese and wine.. French only of course.. For the moment anyway i refuse to pay such ridiculous prices for some cheeses .. Talk about inflation.. Somebody is making alot of money because i know how much they charge on importation including wine and it isnt that much.. Ridiculous.. Very cheeky when you know what producers and even retailers sell them for in France .. Anyhoo.. Crazy.. Cp if you go to the bottom of the page and type cheese, the country your after and use of the cheese it shoud give you the specific details :)

I think you'll find that the taxes and duties on commercially viable amounts of French cheese  are vastly different from the personal rates.

This is the list for Saturday night's dinner at the Crowne - 14 of us.

ES & her DH
Katie & her DH
Frozzie
Gretchen
Judy
CC
Karen
Uni
MF
Bedlam
kmw
djinni

I had this email from Amanda today in regard to this meal. I agree with Amanda re the drink package.

"I have spoken to the hotel about the dinner and they are offering 2 courses from a selection for $45 with the option of having the third course for $58.  The menu is not decided upon yet, but will have a strong focus on SA foods. I can probably get the chef to come out & chat with us.  They offered an extra drinks package that would cost everyone $15 each, but I turned it down. Some might not want to drink, others might only want one or two drinks. I think it best if we let everyone decide that for themselves. "

I would think  the added $15 for  drinks would probably be the cost of one glass or red or at best 1.5 glasses! Don't think you would get much at Ll for that price. Even here in a mediocre restaurant a glass of wine is around $10.

How many non-drinkers would there be though Gretchen, if we all have to pay it regardless, it may not be viable. I'd probably have 2 so would expect top of the range moscato for that price.  We'll be having pre-dinner drinks (for free) beforehand (probably in CC's & my room because it's bigger than others) which is when we will do the goody bag swapping.  Probably meet there at 6pm for a drink and a nibble of something before heading to the restaurant at 7pm.  I hadn't mentioned this yet as I was going to run it by the Adelaide girls before the event but I thought I should add it here now that we are starting to discuss the Saturday night meal and drink prices.

Does this suit everyone to come to our room to distribute the goody bags and have a drink before dinner?  I have plenty of bottles of Brown Bros Moscato that I can bring up to the hotel and if anyone has a specific preference, just let me know and I can bring something different in as well.

Maybe we need to ask also how many people would not be drinking at all and what they think of paying $15 extra for the drink package Amanda mentioned.

I am easy Judy whatever.  I would think that the drinks package  would include houe wines only and some may want a special  local wine of their choice. The price all around seems very reasonable to me.

Oh boy drinks before and goodie bags would be great so we won't be having to make a mess of the dinner table with goodies. Sounds fine to me.

Bedlam believe me after the weekend when you think back you will realise how much laughter there has been.

Last year I felt as though I had been away for 2 weeks and had had the very best time ever. Just the laughter, friendship and fantastic relaxing time. We all seem to be of a similar nature ( sort of). I only had about 2 drinks all weekend and my body ached from laughing. Unless of course someone jumped on my bed when I was snoring.  :D ;D
