I just snuck out and had a quick look and the oven thermometer in the Tandoor is ready at 150 degrees still with the charcoal from last night so we are just defrosting (via microwave) a small lamb shoulder that was already marinated in the freezer and will put that in and slow cook for the rest of the afternoon. I'm thinking we'll need to add a little more charcoal to keep it at that temp for the afternoon but shouldn't need very much. DS will be excited that he can have lamb souvlaki for tea tonight.

That looks fantastic Wonder. All things considered, $800 is not a lot of money. It's only 41% of the cost of TMX and about the price of a good BBQ.

I ended up over cooking the lamb a little when I had to add more coals to increase the temp and got sidetracked with work. It was still a huge hit and tasted great. It's going to take a while to get used to increasing, decreasing and keeping the temp stable.

I think it looks lovely Wonder - you will get the hang of it very quickly if you keep using it as much as you have since it was delivered.
