I actually do not agree  with antibacterials around the house. That is going to be our problem in The future. What we need is regular hand washing with soap and water and where that is not available then alcohol based hand cleaners.  Bacterias are growing and mutating faster than we can keep up with them.  I have worked in an environment riddled with MRSA and it is no joke. The hospital system is a mess  with cutbacks everywhere including infectious control people . Too many shortcuts and risk taking. I would love to swab all the staff and all sinks and all the equipment  including the stethoscopes hanging around the necks of those stupid students interns and nurses.  God knows where they have been.

Too true Gert. DH taught a lass who lost her life because of a broken leg ( open wound) and she contracted MRSA in hospital. Mum had it too, from her crap nursing home. Made her treatment very difficult.
Royal Perth Hospital has that of course and they are really battling VRE at the moment.

I'm sorry to hear Chookie.  I hope he recovers quickly.

They have actually changed the requirements in day care centres I believe to warm soapy water. Bleach is only used in the bathrooms. I agree with you Gert. Chemicals and antibacterials are far too overused in households these days.

Chookie, DH and I are thinking of you both - please feel free to let us know if we can do anything to help in any way.

I agree with you Gert. Chemicals and antibacterials are far too overused in households these days.

This is true, we are digging a huge hole for ourselves which is more far reaching than most people realise and it is going to be nigh on impossible to get out if something radical doesn't change soon.  I'm going to keep my fingers away from the computer now as I could go on and on for ages about this subject

Marina we should all get our soapboxes out on this subject.  I cannot believe already stretched household budgets are spent on unnecessary cleaning products. It is one aisle of the supermarket I never go down except for the no frills Domestos which is exactly the same as and about a quarter of the price and then it is only used in the toilet .

Supermarkets have a lot to offer. The pet food aisle has more choice than 3rd world countries.

Mcmich another aisle I never go down as I make my own. Come to think about it there are a few aisles I don't need to go down .

Heaven help us if we ever get to the American style supermarkets. Takes three days to seeit all and the toilet paper is half a day in itself.

I find it horrid that I live in such excess and that people are living in poverty which has led me to look into volunteer work on Mersey Ships - my nursing qualifications may have me accepted? I'm not currant with theatre/operation stuff.

Exciting mcmich.
Agree Gert. We have antibacterial for after any farm nasties, otherwise soap and water.
Use soap and water in the kitchen too.
Normal bleach for loos when needed, otherwise a milder cleaner for the septic tank.

I thought you were off on a ship Mich.
I agree with all the above ladies. Another thing that bugs me is all these 'drugs/ medicines 'or whatever they advertise. Don't feel bloated.   Take this, try this for your arthritis, keep you liver healthy take this and so on. Some people are very gullible and would be taking so much unnecessary junk.

You hit the nail on the head Gert. To make matters worse, the children see these vitamins on TV ads and think they can pop a pill instead of eating their meat and three veg, fresh fruit and water. Well not in my house.
