So glad to hear Bess that things are at last looking up for Ral.  What a lovely idea to take him out for lunch, and I agree a little bit of normality will go along way to aiding his recovery.

Fantastic news Bess, you all must be so relieved and I'm sure it will help Ral in his recovery just knowing what is actually wrong with him. It would have been lovely for you to run into Marina and I'm sure she was excited to be getting the great news hot of the press. All the best for the next few days and safe trip home.

It sounds like everything is slowly starting to come together at last and a touch of normality by way of lunch out of hospital is an incredibile morale booster.  It will be so good once you are both back home again, I know you are looking forward to that!

So frustrated,  Ral still in hospital, has an infection in both wrists.  Other problems on the improve.  Extra frustrated,  got locked out of Forum and was told I was a visitor. !  Yes I feel like a visitor and just when I have picked up a fab sweets idea. 
Visited a little coffee shop where the owner is a real' foodie'.  I had a slice of his  morning tea cake,  which really was my lunch. 
He uses his leftover muffins,  especially the chocolate chip ones,  crumbles them up,  adds some walnuts, and makes the liquid mix for bread and butter Pud and mixes it all together. Baked in cake tin,  dressed with chocolate syrup when out of oven.   Served with vanilla ice cream. Yummy.
I haven't felt like cooking,  so this may mean that things are on the improve. 
I think that any cake could be used,  but the chocolate certainly add character.

Yay, the forum is letting you post Chookie.  Let's hope it stays that way.  Recipe sounds nice, thanks for sharing it with us.

Poor Ral, can't take a trick can he - you must be getting really anxious to get home by now.  Let's hope they can get on top of this new problem and let him out of there ASAP.

I know it is frustrating for you both and hope the infections settle and you can get the hell outta that place before something else happens.

I love your foodie coffee shop guy for using the leftover but still good muffins to create something else yummy. Smart he is,

My mother always used stale cake this way but my father actually liked stale cake slathered with BUTTER with a slice of cheddar on top!

Keep an eye on those nurses doing the dressing chookie. Standards!!

Oh, No!!  You must be 'over' hospitals by now     ...  yesterday I was thinking, because we hadn't heard from you, that you were busy heading home and settling Ral down but, no, you're still here.  Last night DH was saying we should go and visit Ral but I said, No, he's home now!  Are you in the mood for a visitor or two, or would you prefer to be left in peace?  I can understand the left in peace option, so don't be worried if that is what you would prefer.

So sorry to read this, and the forum gremlins too, but pleased to read you are thinking food, albeit in a very minor way. The cooking mojo will return and we shall all enjoy that with you.

Gert gives good advice. Hope Ral is better soon and not in pain and most importantly HOME SOON!
