I do the pantry trick too Gert.

Left over roast pork, going to use it to make a pad thai, its meant to be chicken but pork will do, a few other substitues using up bits and pieces :D well its probably just going to be a noodle dish ;D

Gert , I do that too.  I also keep the long grained rice in a large plastic jar.  On the outside is stuck the instructions for cooking it in the TMX.  Recipe and instructions for making Uni's SOS  mix is kept in freezer, in the bag with the mix.  The instructions are in a small zip lock bag in with mix. 

Today the challenge is what to use from the freezer.  I would like to take out some big item to leave a space. Think think.

Good one chookie.

Hally there is always a noodle dish to be made from leftovers.

And obbie there is always the  old pasta bake.

I used up the angle hair spaghetti with the last of my cray fish tails yesterday.

I have only a few things left in the freezer including  4 chicken legs, a piece of cooked pork and a hunk of ham. I feel a ham and pasta bake coming on.  But today are my stuffed chicken Bon bons wrapped in prosciutto.  Don't know what with yet.

I usually cut the box or packet and slip the label inside with instructions if needs be.

Have used up some of the items in freezer but still have a way to go.  Have 2 empty drawers so far. The bottom drawer is full of kangaroo mince for dog so that has to stay full  :D ;D  Will have to work much harder on pantry

Yup the pantry is harder. I did a sort of stocktake yesterday and found 6 cans of cream of mushroom soup I use in casseroles. Sometimes hard to find in Cairns so obviously bought up big . Then there are 4 cans of cream of celery not to mention one or two cans of chicken and mushroom soup. 3 jars of S&W mayo also on special but now I am liking Dukes mayo available in Woolies which is as good and cheaper.
7 large jars of various sauces including a couple of Pataks. Ummmm. Yup the pantry is harder but I am NOT, I repeat NOT going to buy anything for the pantry until I am down to one thing each with no backup. That may prove hard but so be it. I must have 20 or more bottles of whatever as well and that is only one side of my walk in pantry. The other has spices and odd baking bits. After that there is the fridge.

Decided to use a jar of tomato based sauce for my chicken and will use up some fettuccini even though we had pasta yesterday. DH won't even notice.

I have warned him that he will have to take part in the decision making soon as to what meat he wants as there is only that piece of pork  and a hunk of ham in the house!  No doubt he will say sausages.

Here's a site with recipes using canned soup, once you've got rid of all those cans those Gretchen you will have to make your own following QJ's ideas here.

Just raided the freezer and removed fish , sausages, sausage mince and a tray of Pork schnitzel.  Might cook a Duck for Mother's Day.  That covers us till Monday. 
Trouble is it is good soup weather, so made Potato, Radish top and land Cress soup.  Didn't help pantry at all.  Radish tops and land cress from garden. 2 teaspoons of chicken stock powder only from  pantry.

I have ham to use up... I have no basmati rice left, we are over pizza and Quiche. I guess a pasta bake it is.

I made Agilio Oilio E Peperoncino pasta yesterday, made 1/2 this recipe which is enough for 3 meals for me.  So tasty as is but what to do with leftovers for something different.

For lunch today I removed 2 items from my freezers, a pack of Bernaise sauce and a cup of cooked chicken. I picked some spinach and a spring onion from the garden, steamed the spinach then heated everything together.  I did it in the TMX but would normally reheat things in the microwave. A completely different taste from yesterday's meal and of course no extra spices or flavours needed as both the pasta and bernaise sauce were tasty items to start with. 

First picture is the basic recipe, the other picture is my leftovers meal and no, I couldn't eat that much in one sitting so of course now have leftovers from leftovers along with enough of the original pasta for another meal over the weekend, probably a frittata.

Thanks Gert, inspired by you lately it was nice to remove 2 old packs from the freezer.

Yum Judy.  You've made me want to make that pasta dish so have put it on the list for next week!  :D

I've been taking bits and pieces out of the freezer and making into meals too this week.  I missed my usual 3 monthly cull at the end of March and my freezers are bursting, so am starting the June clear out a bit early  :D

Well done Judy.  JulieO,  it's the bits and pieces that take up room and we tend to forget about them. 
The kids call my big freezer Jurassic park.  I do clean it out every 6 months.

I think we are doing very well.  We may eat lunch out tomorrow but today's meal  was enough for four so some went back into the fridge.  Made a nice veggie soup with two containers of chicken stock from freezer drawer.
