hey i tried the sauce, but i made one small change: i put in less sugar because my man is pre diabetic.. and it has a nice heat to it..  but not over hot .. must be the poor chilii we have over here....
and i think i may nextime blitz the mixture longer then 20 seconds;  maybe like 45 instead of 200.. the sauce is a bit lumpy....  but the taste is wonderful . let the spring rolls come !!!!! damn ....  i have to make those myself if i want any   ...   cant have the processed stuff...  lol

I made this on the weekend.  The flavour is perfect however it's so thick I can't get it out of the bottle!  I followed the receipe exactly.  Any tips for making thinner (now it's bottled).   My knife only reaches so far, I was thinking maybe to add vinegar and heating the bottle to mix it up a little?

Any for next time I will store it in wide jars not old sweet chilli sauce bottles, or maybe it requires less time/more liquid?

hmm I don't have that problem and I store it in the old sweet chilli bottles and keep it in the fridge. Make this often too. Wonder what will have caused that (I have no idea!!) hopefully someone with knowledge will be able to help.

Try putting the whole bottle in a container of very hot water and give it a good shake after about 20 mins.  could also heat it in the Microwave.

Mine is in the fridge and pourable.  Did you think it wasn't thick enough and cook it longer than the recipe said Vivaroo? It does tend to thicken more once cold but it was quite runny when I filled my glass bottles.

  I followed the receipe exactly.

arghhh... just reread what I scribbled down in my notebook against original recipe and I left off 1 crucial instruction - turn it down to 1000C for 40 minutes.  So glad to know it should be pourable, I'll definitely be making again, and REALLY follow the instructions next time.

To convert original recipe to delicious Sweet Chilli Jam thick enough to hold down an elephant just Varoma for the whole stated time  :-[

;D ;D ;D ;D ;D  At least you worked out where you went wrong Vivaroo.  Perhaps you could make another batch, not cook it as long and mix the 2 together.

I made this this afternoon and although still hot it is just lovely! For me it made one dolmio size jar plus two taco salsa sized jars full.

I used chillies with seeds and all.

I made this today, thought the kids might like it as the love sweet chilli, it only has a hint of heat, but too much for the kids, so I guess I will be eating it all!

DeeCat,  I remove 1/2 the seeds.   Maybe you would like to keep it all to yourself ;D ;D ;D

Does anyone know if I can halve this recipe? I'm a bit new at this so would I just halve the cooking times also? Or is there some magical formula you regulars use in order to scale recipes.

Thanks :)
