I've had a fun afternoon with thermie. Made bolognese sauce (stove top, but chopped everything in TMX), butter chicken, a batch of EDC veg concentrate, and Tenina's lemon curd. This was after being out all morning, and I still managed to do some housework, shopping, & school pick up in between cooking. THAT is why I love thermie! Off to make batter for the Nigella lemon puddings now.

Had Birthday lunch for my dear friend Amanda,  today. Made a special pastie, Tenina's  Warm salad of Spinach fennel seeds and Hazel nuts and a sweet for dessert with very little sugar.

I am (rather boringly) making a beef casserole I am also planning to use up all my veg by making potato, carrot and swede mash individual portions and freezing some and also I am dehydrating some vegetable leathers for use as soup bases or just eating  "au naturale" because they taste so nice.

Had some left over egg whites after making pink grapefruit curd ........ So I thought I would try Mara's macaroons again.  First time was a certified disaster and it's taken me months to get the desire up to try them again.

I'm happy to report that there was a marked improvement this time - still a long way from perfect as they stuck a little to the baking sheet (but you don't see the inside!) but there was a definite improvement so I will keep on trying.  I really want to make them for Xmas gifts for the preschool teachers.

Here they are filled with pink grapefruit curd (which tastes just like lemon curd)

Seems a funny thing to have for a birthday ,  but they loved it.

Snappy,  wish i was one of your kids teachers.  I have never been game enough to make these.  Well done.
