No, we don't go to the markets often Cookie.... its such a mad rush every time and we can get lovely local produce elsewhere ;) Did you go to the Farmer's market or the Boatshed? :)

We went to the Farmers' Market. I loved it, worth coming back just to go there. ;)

Why do you blanch the vegies first before freezing Amy? I'm going to try to pre-cut vegies for the week to save cooking time during the week from now on. Only started last night. Not overly confident on being able to keep it up for a reasonable period of time to be honest.

I am doing the same thing MEP.  I have to admit its made dinner tonight a lot easier!  I've bought some Tupperware fridge smart from eBay so hopefully I will get them this week.

I figure that even if the cut vegies only last 3 days it is better to do it twice a week than every night - If i cut up on Sunday enough for Mon and Tues dinner and then on wednesday cut up again for thurs Friday - it still only means chopping on one week night.

Wow, the markets must be better than I thought Cookie :) Don't you have anything like that in Perth?

I only started on the weekend too, lets see who lasts longer ;D ;D ;D

Snappy, I like your ideas too. I'm just storing me vegetables in zip-lock bags at the moment ;)

Today I made banana biscuits, will post the recipe :D

I agree Snappy, the need to cut vegies only once during the week is so much better than having to do it every night. My cut veggies from last night made cooking dinner tonight very quick and easy. I used my fridge mates too and even the mushrooms were fine so will continue to use them. Can't believe I spent over $200 on Tupperware and was on the verge of donating them to charity until I read this post.

My Mum cuts her meat up ready for stir fries, casseroles etc as soon as she buys them and freezes them in ready to cook portions. Hence, she just defrosts in the fridge overnight or in the morning and its ready to use that evening.

Fingers cross we can all keep up with the pre-cutting of veggies goal we have set ourselves.

I'm pleased you didn't donate your fridge smarts MEP...although I would've been a happy recipient!!! They really are great, the only down side is remembering to use them -that and the price to fit the whole fridge out!

I love the variety of the Albany markets Amy. We have one in Manning about 25 minutes away. I don't go very often as I have a fantastic fruit and veggies shop nearby. It doesn't have the lovely yoghurt the Albany one had though.
May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.

I had fridge smarts but hated them so have just promised them to my mum for her birthday on Friday.... :-))
My fridge has built in fruit/veg bits with the same idea tho (as in how ever much ventilation for what sort of breathers I have in them) I love it, it is huge and works well!  :D

I pre cut all my veges on Sunday for the week, made it so fast last nite.

I am waiting on prices of Fridge smart on ebay. :)

It's going fine here Hally. Can't make any helpful suggestions though.

I've made raspberry cordial, spaghetti bolognaise, and olive tapenade so far. I hope to do some Granuesli but may pike out as I am hot.
