ES, thanks for the link for the Bagels. Must give them a try.
I had leftover duck . Reheated in microwave and removed cooked flesh. Add it to leftover gravy with sliced mushrooms and served on whole grain toast. Very tasty for a cold day.

This Orange Cake is just out of the oven and smell delicious. I'll ice it when with orange icing when it cools down. The recipe is from the Create Bake Make blog site.

The cake looks lovely Margaret. I must check that site out.
I made some Butterfly cakes for DD to take to a quiz night. I put Lemon curd in some and icing in others.

Yummy Kim. Our biscuit barrel is empty again too. I will do so ething for it tomorrow. Today I made the Baklava chocolate in Tenina's new book. I did it with milk chocolate as not all the family like white. It is very nice, and hard to stop nibbling on.

Cookie, love that DH has had a go at icing. Looks good.
Kimmy , love the look of the chocolate ripples.
I experimented with proofing bread in microwave . Needs more experimenting but think it works. Could be handy if kitchen is cold.
Made SD crumpets .

You all know, when you are baking that you follow the recipe closely, if not exactly, with just the odd deviation away from the "written word". Well, not this little rubber ducky ... I decided to make some cookies yesterday and, despite reading the recipe several times, still managed to go way wrong. In fact, I think the only thing I did exactly as per the recipe was to sieve the dry ingredients! Only added half the sugar and wondered why the mixture wasn't looking as I had anticipated. It is challenging to beat the butter until the point in the recipe when you add the next ingredient, when you have already beaten the butter to a pulp in the flour. After a while, I realised that I had only put half the sugar in, so added it later.
The writer of the recipe was adamant about the correct order in which to add ingredients and what to do next, etc. so, to cut a long disaster story short, I eventually ended up with something that I guessed was vaguely similar to the recipe and popped it into the oven and was curious to see how it turned out ... and, to my great surprise, the end product was pretty tasty, I am sure not as quite good as they would have been had I mixed them correctly, but they are edible, so as they say 'all's well that ends well'!

Glad it worked out for you Marina, baking is usually not so forgiving when we make mistakes.

Well done Marina. I'm a bit like you. In fact I don't even read a new recipe through very often, only the ingredients. ( just to make sure I have them all).
Alls well, that ends well, you may even have created something new.
