Also a lot of us put in bread improver.

I've nearly finished my bread improver - what was the natural alternative? Citric Acid?

I'm hanging my head in shame here, CP, because it's so long since I made bread, but I think it is Vitamin C that I used to use.  No doubt someone will put us on the straight and narrow with the correct answer before too long.

Today I made pancakes (on demand), a batch of granola and some anzac biscuits 'cos I don't need to clean the bowl between making the granola and the biccies! Eating out of the freezer tonight, still trying to empty it so I can have fun filling it up again next week while I'm on leave and the kids are back at school (does a little happy dance  ;D)

Good luck Kerryn, I hope your prac goes well. What year level will you have?

Thanks for the well wishes - I think i will need them all! I am going to be in a class of Prep/Grade 1/Grade 2 kids at a multi-age school, which is an environment I have no experience with so there should be lots for me to learn. This is only my first placement so I'm not sure how much actually teaching I will end up doing over the three weeks though. I just hope my supervising teacher is happy to have me and provide a bit of guidance.

I have a few assignments to get through before I get there though and I am struggling to get into the groove with the kids home from school. Maybe next week I will be more productive?

Eating leftovers today.

Gilokez I think spelt needs more liquid than normal baker's flour. I'm sure Chookie will be able to help. Also a lot of us put in bread improver.

Good luck Kerryn, I hope your prac goes well. What year level will you have?

Ah ok thanks for that will grab some. I went out on a flour hunt today :)

JD what cut of meat did you use for the chilli? mine took ages to become tender and I didnt even use the cheapest cut otherwise we would have eaten at midnight! I ended up putting it in the pressure cooker. I didnt have the same problem with the beef and ale pie, that was lovely and tender after nearly an hour - and I used the same cut.

I used blade steak LMT which in some recipes I do cooks in 45 minutes but this recipe did need the full 60 minutes as per the recipe and then I added 5 minutes @ 100o to finish it off, thickening it during the last minute.  Will give a full review after we've eaten it for tea tonight.

I made some Terriyaki sauce
A lovely beef casserole for 8, gave 1/2 to our 85 year od neighbours & their nephew who lives with them. Didnt follow a recipe, used chcken stock paste, unami & caramelised garlic in the casserole, it tastes delish ;D last 3 items from FFS

I think the replacement for bread improver is Vitamin C.

Judy I didn't quite need the fire hose last night. ;) I think they all enjoyed the meal though. Quite a few leftovers for tonight. I was going to take some over to a very dear friend who is 90 today but she didn't want them, so I took a big bunch of flowers instead.

I understand that Uni.  I spent far more time looking at recipe book photos than photos of people  ;D  I rarely get out an album or a box of photos - that can be done when I am so old I can't do anything but sit and reminisce :P
