Ok I've tried several from thermomix cookbook and off the net but I don't use bakers flour. I replace bakers flour with spelt flour as I can't eat normal white flour it kills my belly. Even the thermomix books spelt rolls still requires normal flour?  Hope you guys don't think I'm stupid but bread isn't my forte you guys are inspiring me but problem is an hour later it is rock hard.
Can you get a bakers flour that isn't white perhaps?

We definitely don't think your stupid GiloKez, I'm a great one for asking stupid questions ;D
I don't know much about other flours as I only use bread flour. But I'm sure someone will be able to help you more. You could always google to see what works best and suits your needs.

Don't give up. I had heaps of trouble making bread to start with, but with persistence I finally can now make a great loaf. Although I don't make loaves very often but make lots of bread rolls.

Deedub, I know all about emptying the freezer. Pain but has to be done.

Chookies no fuss bread
Chicken noodle soup
Caramelised garlic paste, FFS
1 roast chicken
2 chicken breasts
Chicken stock, well in the middle of it, FFS

A large salad.

I'm on the opposite crusade - to stock up my freezer! I am going to start my first three week teaching placement in a few weeks, which will be the first time I have worked full time in nearly 10 years! OMG that's the first time I thought of that bit...

Apart from the butterflies (understatement) associated with the whole teaching experience and related assessment, I also have to work out how I am going to organise my kids for those three weeks, and still feed us all and get everyone to their appointments, etc. If I can stock the freezer with good food now I can still write my menu plans and just remove stuff from the freezer the night before so have one less thing to freak out over. I think I may also need to make up a loaf worth of frozen sandwiches or other lunch things too or I can see myself up till late making lunches as well...

Tonight's dinner is Afghani quinoa stew with lamb. Hopefully I will get two dinners from this one.

Good luck with you new job Kerryn - it will be a bit of a shock for all of you.  Life will change for sure.

Today I've made sage, potato & leek soup and currently have crio bru beef chilli cooking.  Mashed potatoes and vegies later and more garlic paste if I have time later today.

I also made a batch of peanut butter so that I could made Cookie's Peanut Butter Ice-Cream - will churn that later today as well.
Tastes delicious already Cookie.

Eating leftovers today.

Gilokez I think spelt needs more liquid than normal baker's flour. I'm sure Chookie will be able to help. Also a lot of us put in bread improver.

Good luck Kerryn, I hope your prac goes well. What year level will you have?

JD what cut of meat did you use for the chilli? mine took ages to become tender and I didnt even use the cheapest cut otherwise we would have eaten at midnight! I ended up putting it in the pressure cooker. I didnt have the same problem with the beef and ale pie, that was lovely and tender after nearly an hour - and I used the same cut.

Oh yum.  I have a hankering for silverside now.  Must put that on my menu for next week.  :)

Still going through the freezer so tonights meal will centre around a frozen tuna & cheese strudel (JudyD).  Will make some spicy roast veg to go with and even though there will be some potatoes in that, I might also serve with a bit of mashed potato (just feel like it).  ;D
