Hang in there dede. I'm glad others are helping.
May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.

Yeh I will be right. I'm pretty tough lol.
Thanks everyone for your kind thoughts. I promise I won't go on about it to much. (I appreciate having 2 legs more now) could be a lot worse, could be permanent. 6 weeks is a small sacrifice to make for hopefully a long term solution.

I can feel for you Dede.  I had a partial rupture of my right achilles tendon some thirty years ago- injured while showing a dog - and I was fortunate because my boss was an orthopedic surgeon who handled my treatment after the initial emergency (In Phoenix, AZ).
He removed the original plaster cast and applied a fiberglass one (new stuff at the time) which was much lighter and had a special "heel" on the bottom to keep my ankle at an angle that did not put any strain on the tendon.  He even made a little hinged "door" in the back so he could check the incision without removing the entire cast.  It still took a long time to heal and even today that tendon is smaller in diameter than the left.

In '07 I strained the quadriceps tendon in my left leg - the one that straightens the knee - and the orthopedist I saw treated me with injections of Platelet Rich Plasma to speed the healing process (drew my own blood, spun it down to retrieve the plasma and platelets) and it certainly worked for me. I was back to normal in about 5 months, wore a full knee brace the first three months.

You know exactly what it's like then. I was looking at the date of my next appointment and it's actually 7 weeks away not 6 like I thought. I was all psyched up for the 6 weeks and now I got to add another week onto that. Bummer.

That seems like a long gap - my boss always checked patients at least every three weeks, later in their treatment and it was always a "global" fee, all follow-up visits were included in the treatment cost, no matter how many.  Immediately post injury it was once a week.
And your muscles will shrink fairly rapidly without use and if the cast loosens, you can have problems with shifting and rubbing so if you get an uncomfortable spot, don't wait.

The doctor told me that if I feel a pop (and pain) to go straight back in because of the risk of a rupture after the steroid injections.
I guess that's the public system for you, it's really bad here in Tassie at the moment.

DS (5)  asked me if I could make another batch so he could just eat the batter.
DD ( 8 ) wants to cook something using the TM so I think I will sit on the kitchen stool and just supervise. Maybe some biscuits of some kind I think.

Not a lot here today. Probably some bread rolls to have with sausages for dinner. We were up at 5am today to go about an hours drive away (in the old car) to farewell 5 old cars and 2 modern ones who are driving to Ipswich over the top. About 7000km. As we said goodbye I wished I was going too, but definitely not in the 1930's car.
