Mandi I would have let the repair man know that you are broken too and it is difficult for you to stand doing the dishes. If he is so snowed under with work then he should employ some help. A month to repair after a quote is far too long IMHO - I would be jumping up and down (well I know you can't but you know what I mean lol)

Looking forward to seeing how your rolls turn out Judy if you are doing the extra long rise.  :D

I've started my 3 monthly-clear-out-the-freezer routine and today I'm using a free range chicken that will be cooked with other stuff in my pressure cooker to use as the filling in a Mexican chicken lasagne, sounds nice, hope it is. Will be removing 99% of the skin first though, (that and the cooked carcass will be frozen for the next lot of chicken stock powder).   ;D

These are the no-fuss rolls using Laucke's Phytosoy Bread Mix. I have been told this is the best flour you can buy.  I picked up a 10kg bag for $6 yesterday (only have 5 weeks to go before the use by date is up), reduced from $26.00.  Even if I don't use it all, it was too good to pass by.  Anyone used bread flour past it's use by date?  Katiej, if you would like some, bring a container down and help yourself  ;D

Julie, I gave the rolls a 1 hour 20 minutes second rise which is a lot longer than I ever let my rolls rise but being a grainy, mixed ingredient bread flour they didn't rise as much as plain white bread flour would have in that time.  I'm happy with them though and this flour has to be a lot healthier than plain white.

I buy flour in bulk, decant it into containers and put it in the fridge. I have no idea what the use by date is and don't care. Works for me.

 :D :D :D :D Knew I'd get the thumbs up from you Gretchen re the use by dates. I had no idea what this flour was until I got it home but when I opened it up, I thought it was riddled with weavils or something - it was only the linseeds  ;D :-))

Julie, nice crunchy crust on these rolls so I am very happy with them. I don't mind grain bread occasionally but will do what Chookie suggested which was to mix half and half with ordinary bakers flour if I want a lighter loaf as I don't know that DH is going to like this type of bread. He is not a bread lover of any description but white goes down OK occasionally with him.  This flour might be nice for savoury cracker type biscuits so I'll give that a try as well.

I might just do that JD!  I can swap you for a bottle of toasted sesame oil  :)
After looking in almost every shop in Adelaide, I finally found it this morning at a place in Norwood.  I grab us both a bottle. 
I've been looking for it for so long I've almost forgotten what I needed it for!

Jd i would just be careful about the grains in the flour.. Would keep it in the freezer if possible then you dont need to worry.. I have 20 to 40 kg of bakers flour at any one time in food bins in the side of my kitchen (so not near heat) and there is never any use by date on them from the mill but no grains.  I have never had any problem keeping the flour for months like that but they are special food grade bins 😊😊

Last night had the best casserole beef and Guinness and today made tuna noodle and corn casserole for tomorrow, and it smells and looks great  :)
