I made some delish Thai Chicken Burger patties which we had with an asian style salad. It is very hot here in Northern NSW atm. This was then followed by a scrumptious Strawberry Sorbet.

I am still in awe of the ease of this machine.

Today I've made porridge, chocolate-almond smoothie (see blog), spelt bread x 2, molasses spice cookies (will post recipe on blog tonight) and the veges and sauce for tuna mornay.  I think there'll be custard later too!  :)  (Otherwise the kids will eat all the cookies, and there'll be none left for tomorrow!)

Ok cinnamon bits - ploise exploin !

They are called Hersheys Cinnamon Chips, like chocolate chips, I guess.   These, however, are made of very bad things like palm kernel oil, palm oil, carcinogenic colours etc.! :o
I saw the recipe on Not Nigella (again) and was curious.  The cookies are nice, but I wouldn't make a habit of using products like this!

Yes, she does seem to promote quite a lot of businesses one way or another on her blog, doesn't she?
Or am I just a little cynical - unlike yourself, Jeff!! :P ;D

Today I have made Tuna Mornay for tomorrow nights tea (working late), breadcrumbs from Tuesday's 5 seed bread for the top of the mornay, chinese stir fry vegies and mashed spuds for tonights tea.  Yesterday I took Thermie to a friends house and made 2 lots of orange sorbet - they were very impressed  ;D

After taking what I thought was green prawns out of the freezer yesterday to defrost in the fridge to make Prawn Linguine tonight. I unwrapped them earlier to find they were cooked prawns, so instead I made a simple prawn salad, but I did make the tartare sauce from the EDC.  Wasn't thick like I was expecting, more of a drizzle sauce, but we still really liked it.

Earlier in the day I also made the Tomato Ketchup from the book, turned out quite good too. Not having fresh plums I used canned which seemed to work really well but I did reduce the sugar content.  Made one bottle of sauce.

You've just filled me with a desire for orange sorbet.  I'm off to freeze some oranges!!

Trying to get up the energy & enthusiasm to make a beef stir fry, using the soy and honey combo.  I'd better do something in poor old thermie, she's been sat untouched all day, and is probably wondering what has happened.
As my picture shows, I've suddenly become younger :-)  DD was of the opinion that her picture should be here, not mine!

This reminds me of a horrible mistake I made last Xmas.
We had some close friends over for a casual Xmas eve dinner and I planned prawn salad.  I had defrosted the prawns in the fridge and put them together with all the other ingredients, dressed the whole lot in a nice creamy dressing and served it.  Just as we were about to eat I looked at the prawns and had a sudden, late surge of brain activity! :o
The prawns were, in fact, raw (as the saying goes :D).
With a very red face I scooped up everyones dishes, separated the prawns from the rest of the salad, rinsed the prawns off and then quickly seared them with some white wine, garlic and chilli and served it all up again! :-))

I was deeply embarassed as I am considered something of a foodie and had never made such a gross mistake before.  I was very grateful that it was old friends and not someone who didn't know me.
As it is, I will now have to listen to the story of the 'raw prawns' every Xmas eve for many years to come. :D

I've made some Lemon Butter for an old friend, the 5 Seed Bread and for dinner we're having the Beef Curry from the calendar and rice, no naan tonight though.
May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.

Amanda - I had the opposite one Christmas.  Because I am the foodie, I was the designated chef for the day and a friend had purchased the meat.  The husband went and picked it up on Christmas eve and took it up country where we were staying.  It was bundled up and in the cooler overnight.

It should have been a turkey and a large leg of pork to roast.  I fired up the ovens and prepared stuffing.  When we took it out there was a large smoked chicken and a wonderful smoked ham !!!!  We checked the bags and it had the wrong initials.

So, somebody had a raw turkey and a raw leg of pork - and probably no way to cook them.  :o :o

The people never said anything to their butcher.

Today I have made a sweet tuna curry, Bron's steamed garlic rice and a double batch of cottage pie filling. Topped one lot with mashed potato for tonight's tea and have frozen the other meat/veg mixture for another day.
