Vistors for lunch tomorrow so had to do most of the preparation today.

Lamb shanks in the slow cooker - vegies chopped in the TMX.
Hally's Marinated sticky chicken drumsticks
Parboiled and marinated JulieO's Sticky pork spareribs
Made a heap of mashed potato (1.8kg potatoes) - filled the steaming basket with large chunks and cut the rest into smaller dice which I cooked in the varoma bowl at the same time for 30 minutes then mashed it all together in the TM bowl. It worked well using this method.
Made a batch of Chookies 'enough rice for the family' and froze it for fried rice (I always think frozen rice thawed is so much better for fried rice) then made the omelette, sauteed onion, bacon and prawns and cooked some peas to add to it when I fry it all up tomorrow.
Tonight I made a batch of No Fuss Rolls.
Desserts will be from the freezer (farfallina's chocolate souffle) and Tenina's Spiced Plum & Almond Pastries together with a fruit platter.
I think I am done.

JD I am counting 3 mains, 2 sides and 2 desserts.  That sounds more like a party than visitors to me!

And Wonder you've inspired me. I'm going to try making the macaroons on the weekend (I've had a few glasses of red wine otherwise I would try now).  There is a gorgeous macaroon cafe near my work but luckily for my jelly belly they charge $3 a macaroon so I very rarely splurge.

They have some amazing flavors such as salted caramel, lavender, green tea.

Only 6 of us - I am expecting not to have to cook for a couple of days though.  DH will be very happy if there are leftovers, these are his favourite foods and seeing as it's his family coming, I hope they also like his preferences.
Hally, I'd love to have you here to ensure there are plenty of laughs  ;)

Wow JD - you have been busy! I don't think I could ever find the energy to make so much in one day! Well done and hopefully it will be awhile before you have to cook again!

I'm sure your guests will love the food Judy. Hopefull there is leftovers for DH.

I've just made Tenina's Quinoa and spelt crackers. Very nice. I even like them with no cheese or dips. Thanks fro suggesting them CP.

Just wanted to report that the food went down well, plenty of leftovers as I expected.  It turns out the grand-daughter's boyfriend's parents run the restaurant in one of our local taverns - no pressure on me once I found that out  :o :o  He seemed suitably impressed though and was a good eater so I guess I passed the test.
