"Grug" birthday cake - from children's story book series about Grug

Cyndi O'Meara's sandwich mix, Teninas curry chicken sandwich mix, roast pumpkin and corn soup, chicken in yoghurt, lemon myrtle and coconut ice-cream, apricot and coconut roll, pizzas, apricot crumble, lolly racing cars

Some for lunch and dinner, some for party tomorrow

Karen, so cute. I have to do birthday cakes for next week.
My Thermomix,  Kitchen Aid, Pizza oven, Nu Wave 5 in 1, Spatulas, all brings love, laughter, happiness, and great food  to my kitchen.

Having a cooking marathon today as I'm preparing for you DD 2nd birthday tomorrow.

All the components of the birthday cake are cooked, it took 3 batches of Bimby choc cake
oreo cake pops which will be made into spiders
cookies and cream cupcakes
sweet pumpkin pie
Caramel slice
Parmesan pastry and filling for chicken/leek/mushroom pie
bol sauce to be used in a lasagna 
roasting vegies for a warm salad

Can anyone advise, can I make bechemel sauce today and keep in the fridge for tomorrow??

Just getting back into the swing Of things today.

I have bread currently proving in the TMX bowl. I'm hoping it's as light and fluffy as the reviews say it is because I'm not a fan of dense bread. Then later I feel like some Choc chip cookies. I love them soft.

I have no idea what we are going to have for dinner but for dessert I'll probably do French toast with jam and cream.

Karen the brain cupcakes were indeed a brain wave. :P
 The Grug cake is fantastic. I adore Grug, he reminds me of Nic Natinui (a footballer who is very tall and has dread locks). The kids used to love reading Grug books when I was teaching. He inspired even the most reluctant readers. You and your DH are very clever.
May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.

Thank you all for your encouragement and compliments on the cake!  I was quite happy with how he turned out in the end - although there was a bit of cursing when I was trying to get the choc icing to stick to the cut sides of the cake  >:( 

And Maddy, the icing caddy arrived just in time, and was really useful.  I particularly like the practice templates with the clear plastic that goes over the top of the template guide so that you can practice your piping  ...... I did that with the left-over icing, and got to know some of my new piping nozzles.  An excellent buy  :-*

LOL Cookie ...... he really does look like Naitanui doesn't he!!   :D :D :D
