ES do you keep the fruit mince made up in the fridge until you are ready to make the pies? do you sterilise the jar first? DS is asking for fruit mince pies but I just don't have the time to do it all at once so maybe if I break it down I'll get there.

No cooking for me - flat out at work and at home doing non cooking things.

Chrissa your food is amazing.
Wonder I made JulieO's fruit mince yesterday and stored it in sterilised jars in fridge overnight to use in pies today. Her mince keeps in fridge for 3 months.
Making savoury scone pinwheels, wholemeal English muffins and fruit mince pies today. :)

Wonder, i always make up my fruit mince and store it in a large glass jar in the fridge. I give the jar a good wash in soapy water and then pour a jug of hot water over it. The fruit mince I made is a cooked one ( I can post the recipe if you like) with no added fats and lots of citrus flavours. I used to make a suet based one, but this is just as nice. It keeps for months in the fridge, and I just use what I need and then pop it back into the fridge until next time i need it.
Sometimes I even make the pastry in advance and leave it wrapped in gladwrap in the fridge for a few days before I bake the pies. I use a sour cream pastry and they are always yummiest when they are baked fresh and eaten straight away.

I'm giving Baf's Award Winning Chicken a go, Cream of Mushroom soup (will be hard to top JD's broccoli soup!), and Amy's Chewy Honey Oatmeal Bickies :) Oh and more rolls - the boys are still eating them like nothing else!
You can't buy happiness, but you can buy cupcakes - and that's kind of the same thing :)

Sad news Alf.

I'm slack again today. I have some bread rising in my new large bread tin and that is about it. DH is hanging around inside and that is unusual. He is trying to sell his ute privately and waiting for callls and people to come round. Better when he is in the shed playing cars. ;)
May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.
