What a shame! Think we have all learnt a lesson here. Don't ever throw it out! Ask on here how to SAVE it! Maybe someone can help! Even give us a clue as how to use it up maybe in another recipe, (thats NOT soup or icecream, JD!) ;) ;) ;)

You're right Bron!! Should't have been so hasty in my foul mood. :-[
Though I'm sure you could have made some sort of icecream out of it  ;) :D

The mix is so forgiving - you could add a little more flour, some baking powder and eggs and make a boiled fruit cake.

But the fruit is so expensive that it is a shame to waste it.

You could also break it up into small chunks, toss it with some rolled oats and press it into a sheet pan or other shallow pan and bake it.
Immediately after taking it out of the oven, turn it out onto a cutting board and cut it into bars.

I've done that with a fruit-filled steamed pudding that didn't hold together.  The kids liked the chewy bars much better than the steamed pudding.

I'm having severe withdrawal symptoms as I seem pushed for time. I have just put on some bread and we're eating out tonight. I want to get in the kitchen and use the festive cookbook to freeze a heap of things for Christmas.  The way I'm going it will be for 2010.
It was a choice of an hour on here or the TMX. You can see what I chose. :P

Last night I cooked up some Asian Fish Fillets using Ocean Trout for a girlfriend for tea and then some Strawberry foam served in Brandy Snap Baskets with fresh strawberries on top - looked very special and her DS who is 2 1/2 thought so too  :D :D and then devoured his stawberry foam in a flash!

well.... I made a chai latte..... because my baby is HEEERE!!! It arrived fairly late this after noon, so I only had time to make a quick latte before I had to get the young mister ready for bed! But I'm already plotting breakfast.... porridge with fruit sauce!!! Also learned the "Time before Temperature" rule when my milk sat there spinning but not getting hot! LOL

YIPPPPPPEEEEE - good to hear (about the new arrival - not the TTS lesson - funny, we mentioned that yesterday on another thread !!!)

Even at some demos you will see the demonstrators being distracted and forgetting - funny most of the time.  Worst is when it is not quite cooked and you forget to do the time or temp and it just smoulders

LOL.... it's what happens when I'm too busy watching the pretty blades spinning at the demo and not listening to the presenter! I'm sure she would have mentioned it... :)

And MAN, did I ever learn the "go easy on the water" rule this morning. I had soaked my porridge (and quinoa and sunflower seeds and almonds) overnight, so I figured that less water would be fine. In fact, I used only 200gm H2O for 190gm oats etc, and it was still waaaaay too much! So, note to self - if you suspect it won't work, it probably won't!!

We could put that recipe in our  Slice section andiesenji - if we had one.  Perfect slice idea  :-* :-*

Where are the "Slice" recipes located?

I have a great one made with mincemeat and rolled oats that I plan on converting to the TMX tomorrow.
Still haven't seen my brewer friend so haven't tried the wattleseed.  His wife wants a new big screen TV or their family room and he doesn't trust her to shop on her own.
She called me and complained that she had hoped to have him at my house and out from under foot while she shopped, it seems that he often antagonizes sales people, but  no luck.  He is going along..

I thought I would look at the recipes and make sure that I am not duplicating something already there.  Mine are of course called "bars" but if they are slices down under, then slices they will be!
