Cookie,  I am trying to perfect bread cooked on a BBQ.  That is one with a hood. Not quite there as I burnt the bottoms. .  Think I will line the dish with newspaper.  Could be handy for campers.

I love the marshmallow idea ES. I've been trying to find this recipe that I've seen in a magazine of little santa's heads made just from strawberries and cream - just so simple and relatively healthy for classroom snack plates but I can't find it. I'll keep looking tonight.

What a good idea ES and the fact that DD was able to make them herself will be extra special for her tomorrow when all the compliments start flowing. They're like marshmallows with a freckle on the top. What a great project for the kids during the school holidays.  I hope you feel better soon Sue.

Keep testing that bread Chookie, hooded BBQ's do tend to run a bit hot.  It looks great though.

CP, here's a recipe with a cheesecake filling and this one is just whipped cream.

There's one in the Healthy Food Guide this month which has a light philly filling and they use mini choc bits for the eyes which look really good.

Thats them - well done JD  :-* :-* :-* Aren't they so cute. I thought a time pressed mum (or a kid) would be able to whip them up without too much fuss at all. In fact I might even make a plate for a bbq Im having on the weekend

Yes they are the cutest little things and so easy to make. I might ask Morpeth if I can take a plate in on Christmas Day for the residents but maybe all those who are able to, will be off out of there to spend the day with their family which means those who are bedridden and have to stay there may not be able to eat them anyway.

Are you using indirect heat chookie?

Gert,  the BBQ has 2 rings of heat.  One under the central round plate and an outer grill ring.  They can be controlled separately .  The problem tonight was that I was juggling cooking a couple of Spatchcocks .  I think this will be a real success once I pay full attention to the bread.  Nice not to heat the kitchen up when it is hot.

I had to giggle.  We live mainly outside and cook on the BBQ  including any roasting outside anyway. The bread stays inside. It would be tricky cooking the wee chooks and having to juggle . I have done bread and pizza in the BBQ (Weber Genisis) but do find it easier in the oven. But I want to try the pot bread for a challenge. It looks like it would have been fine but for the bottom. I wonder if you put wet newspaper might you get a really nice crusty crust. MMMMM. I have never used a BBQ plate in mine and now I think of it I wonder where I put it!! I put everything directly on on the  grill.  When I add some smaller veggies I use  a Stainless steel veggie plate with smaller holes. I have 3 burners which are horizontal. I put one one at the back for roasting and I feel sometimes it does  not get as hot as I like for bread.

I love my Weber but if it ever dies I will comsider something else like a Q. We have had this one 12 years and it may never die though. Ever efficient and will take big things. Well not a big as some MAN  BBQ'S though!
