BZB I always loved home made gifts. I felt the parent had put in that extra special effort. They look lovely and I'm sure will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Kimmy. It's not really good enough to eat though... the cake was 4x 79c cake mixes and was dry (I didn't want to waste good home made cake for a smash!).... the buttercream however (from here) was delicious!

I've finished off CC's peanut butter bonbons, made Cookie's Limoncello Melting Moments and TAT's Chocolate shortbread stars.  I now have things to offer those I see over the Christmas period. I just need to buy some tiny cases for the bonbons and dust the chocolate shortbread before serving with icing sugar for my presentation.

Didn't know whether to post a photo or not? My presentation isn't the best.
Made some mini Christmas puddings for the neighbours.

Nice to see what others are making this morning, it sure gets you in the Christmas spirit when we start this type of baking.  My back is killing me now though, I'm glad I vacuumed before I started cooking.

Inspired by my recent Italian restaurant.

Linguini with pork and fennel meatballs and fresh tomatoes and basil. With a very rustic panzanella salad

I always cook with the tomato stalks as they are full of flavour.

Jam, the cake is a beauty. What is a smash for? Sounds like fun :D

A cake smash is a way of celebrating/remembering a 1yo birthday where a cake is placed in front of them and they basically get to get into it any way they can and photos are taken. If you google "cake smash" you'll see photos.
It's not really my kind of thing but my friend has had so much on in the last week including a funeral and trips to hospital that I thought the least I could do was make the cake for her so she could attend the photo shoot for her little one.
