Cake looks great Obbie. It's my DD's 19th birthday on Monday and she has about 30 friends coming over tomorrow night for a bit of a party. I might have to make some cup cakes in the morning as a bit of a surprise for them, although I'm sure there will be much alcohol drunk and they probably won't eat them but it just doesn't seem right to not make a cake for her birthday.

Lovely food mab and Obbie.
Chookie your microwave method is very good. I have used it a couple of times when we have been away in the van.

Gosh Wonder it only seems a short while when you were preparing for your DD's 18th birthday.
May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.

Great pasties Mab.
Gee wonder, has been 12 months already since the big 18th party at home? Time flies.

Actually Chookie some vegetables are processed twice!
I don't mind too much especially things like beetroot as home prepared beetroot is so yummy.
Carrots and other crisp veggies can be pickled very easily and then preserved in the steam oven.
I just hate wasting any fresh and usually free or swapped produce.
I like opening jars of sunshine in winter!
Chookie thanks for your ongoing inspirations and reminders.

I know, I can't believe it's been 12 months since DD's 18th. Thankfully tonight is very low key with no work from me, really I've just agreed to letting a bunch of teenagers drink out our place rather than them going out. DS has a friend sleeping over so they will stay upstairs out of the way, and DH and I will probably hide away in our bedroom once it gets to about 9pm. I'm hoping they won't be too roudy and no trouble as I've got a run scheduled at 8am so hoping to get some sleep  ;D
