I think rye doesn't rise as much as a normal bread Mich. Chookie will know.
May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.

Not as much gluten in Rye flour so doesn't rise as much.  Does give a finer crumb.
Michele, your loaf looks lovely.
Made these today in my Italian Pizzelli machine. I will break them up to use with dips. They are sweet potato and whole meal flour with a little cardamom

Mich is your bread recipe on here?  It sounds very tasty.

I made some bread today and we had the Cornish Pasty from the British book for dinner.

Had to google pizzelli machine.
Michele, I use this machine about twice a year. These could be cooked in a frying pan or formed in a Tortilla press then pan.

No it's not Cookie. It is super easy though. Don't know whether I would have the confidence to post a bread recipe with all you brilliant bread cooks on here. Our dinner guests loved it though.

Chookie I love your little pizzellis.  I know you can get a pizzelli machine that makes small round shaped ones.  Do you think they would make canoli shells well?  :)

Katj, I should use the Pizzelli machine more as it is very easy to use. When in Italy, many years ago, we ate these lovely light wafer biscuits. When we returned home I wanted to make some and my Italian hairdresser told me what they were and where to buy the machine.
These biscuits could be made Gluten Free, using potato flour, almond meal or GF flour. They have very little sugar , oil and fat in them.
Julie, not sure about the shells. The Pizzelli machine cooks and dries out the dough.  Will check it out.
