Thanks Chookie for the browning guide :)
Recently I made rolls and did not use an egg wash, jus sprayed water on top and it took ages to brown, I had to use fan forced to make them brown on the top ;) Any suggestion what I can do to keep it egg free?
I always bake my bread on ff but also sometimes it has a pale top.  Hate this look so for the last few minutes I now put the grill element on but need to stand and watch it so it doesn't burn.
The other thing that works is to remove the loaf from the tin before it is fully cooked and place it back in the oven , on its side, top facing heat source, ( mine back of oven),
Let me know how you go.

The Chicken Casserole from the Dianna Henry book was delicious. Made a very plain Risotto to go with it. Chicken Not TMX.

Visited the Creswick Farmers Market. Produce mostly expensive but top quality or organic.
Bought an expired pad that was used for growing mushrooms.  $5 and excellent compost. The stall holder picked me one that was covered with growing mushrooms.  Told me to cut them off, water well and it will grow another lot. I harvested 2 kilos of mushrooms of various sizes.  Used a large on for lunch. Cut into 8 steaks and egged and used Panko bread crumbs mixed with Parmesan . Shallow fried. Delicious.

Cookie, I have that book too though I haven't made anything out of it as yet.  I did plan to make the Puerto Rican chicken & rice.  Even ordered in the annato seeds so I could make my own Achiote paste to use in it.  I must do that real soon.  ;D

Yesterday I made a beef stew in the slow cooker from a recipe from a site someone on here posted.  I found by the end of the day the potatoes were still not cooked through, so I turned the cooker down to low and left it on all night.
Today I added a couple of Tenina's frozen umami paste cubes, home made worc sauce, a bit of Tenina's chicken granules (and some frozen peas just before it was ready).  It was so nice.  The potatoes were perfectly cooked and not fallling apart and was meat was really lovely.  It was perfect for our wintery day.  Made a heap too.  :)
