The brioche buns look so good Cookie. Look like you could have purchased them from an artisan bakery.

Chookie you are amazing.
No Cookie, you are.  Just found the booklet you put together for us at a Forum Fest. Some delicious recipes there.

I've been a little busy of late and haven't posted for a while. My brother asked to make a 70th birthday cake for his MIL, and it ended up bigger than Ben Hur! I had a lot of fun piping the buttercream flowers and decorating the cake, but I hate to think how many eggs and butter I used. I made Swiss Meringue buttercream for the first time.  I was surprised how delicious and easy it was, although I had to wait for it to firm up in the fridge after I had mixed it.

The only drawback was that the cake was required for the weekend before my show entries were due. I got over excited when putting in my show entries and put in rather too many. I entered bread, scones, cream puffs, curds, friands, after diner treats, standing biscuit Christmas tree and high tea feature class. I was really pleased with my results as I won first for my Christmas tree, third for my after dinner treats and commended for my scones.   DD entered Jubilee cake and scones and was awarded second prize for her scones.

All the leftovers from the high tea plate came in handy for Father's Day :)

I cooked those pork spare ribs for DH this morning - there should have been 3 serves in that packet but he ate almost all of them.  I had to stop him from eating the lot, leaving only 1 still on the bone and just a little bit of meat which had fallen off some of the other bones.  Staff would have reheated them for tonight's meal.  He loved them, a good choice from DD for Fathers' Day.

Judy, I can imagine your DH enjoying his ribs.  Good on you for cooking them for him.

DD has more of an idea of what to buy him than I do cookie, she usually comes up with something that would never have entered my head.  One lovely gift she gave him for his last birthday was a little yukka plant in a gorgeous pot for his new room at the new facility - something I would never have thought of either!

I saw some rolls that you pre boil like pretzels on the SBS food site. I'm giving them a go.
