Having seen Mab's beautiful filo rolls last week, filled me with enthusiasm and I decided I would make some sausage rolls this week.  Ah well, as the poet said "... the best laid plans of mice and men gang aft agley and leave us with naught but a cooking disaster ..."  The italics are my adaptation of Burns' lines.  Spent a great deal of yesterday trying to 'rescue' the "sausage" mix.  At least I have ended up with something a little bit edible, but no sausage rolls!

Marina, this sometimes happens.
I asked my Sri Lankan neighbour for the recipe for a lovely jelly slice that she sometimes gives me. This is the recipe. I think it would convert well to TMX.

That looks like a nice recipe, Bess.  I am thinking you could just make TMX custard (what qty???) and add the extras.  You called it a jelly - does is set firmly or is it more of a pouring sauce?

Marina, it sets like a cloudy jelly but the flavour is mysterious. You can cut it. I’m making it today so will take photo.

This sounds interesting Chookie.
I made a SD loaf today using a recipe from Cookidoo.  I’ve been out of SD  for a while.

This Sri Lankan jelly, ( Coconut and Cardamom Jelly), is amazing. I put all the ingredients into the TMX jug and cooked it for 10 minutes, 100 degrees, Speed 3. I used raw caster sugar so it was darker than the jelly that I had been given. Poured into oiled dish.

That looks lovely, Chookie.  It looks like you made your own custard, that would make it a quick and easy dessert.  It makes me think of using pineapple.

I’m thinking this could be set in a mould and decorated with fruit.  Individual small shapes would be good.

I made some fresh blueberry biscuits yesterday from the Driscoll berry site. They are quite nice.

I made some yoghurt a couple of days ago, then we decided to change a fluoro light. Without thinking we turned the power off. The yoghurt was a semi disaster, so today I made some sultana and choc chip muffins using it.

Good idea Cookie.
I tried another bread recipe from my new book, whole grain and rolled oats. Made a small loaf. Nice but not spectacular. Good for breakfast toast and toasties.

Hope that loaf turns out well.  DH often makes 'porridge' bread, with rolled oats, Chookie, it's really delicious.  Not sure of the recipe / procedure, but I think he makes porridge first then adds that into the mixing bowl ... I could be wrong, I have never watched him making it.

Over the weekend I made 2 bottles of chilli sauce, one is already half gone.  This is the first time I have ever made it and everyone likes it. Yesterday I made 6 jars of strawberry jam.
