Yesterday and today,  the days all running together.   Made Cheese straws,  a new recipe for biscuits that have chopped up gum drops in them,  Mayo for my sister for Xmas day,  bread rolls for lunch, custard,  mashed potato,  Celeriac salad.  Jo I hope your oven gets fixed up soon,  even if you don't want to use it just now.  It was 9 here yesterday and not much warmer today.  I don't mind at all.   I love the second bowl.

How great that you have a functioning oven Jo - hope the weather is as kind to you in Nth Qld as the wonderfully cool day that we have in CQ today.

Made it in the nick of time Jo, thank goodness for that.
In this house we are waiting for our big TV to be fixed - been a month now and promised the part will arrive today so fingers crossed.  Would sooner do without the TV than any item in the kitchen though.

We're rather off tv too. In fact for the last 12 months or so we watch what we want then it goes off. DD and I read and DH snores. ;)

I have been on a bit of a preserve hit today!  We have Raspberries coming out of our ears so I made a batch of jam based on the Strawberry jam recipe in the EDC - it came out perfectly.  Then I made the Rhubarb Chutney - again loads of rhubarb.  This was pretty sweet so I think I will reduce the sugar next time but still a beautiful chutney.  I also had a crack at Citrus Marmalade using the leftover bits from juicing - didnt really set all that well but still yummy.  Now I just need to find some family and friends to give the jars and jars and jars away too!  Need to get onto some more jars too..

I also whipped up a batch of scones and a loaf of bread - had to have something to mop up all that jam and marmalade!

Today I've made a batch of Johnro's Cookies 'n Cream Fudge and have started the ice-cream recipe from the EDC (never tried that one before).

On Sunday we had an early Christmas Day as my parents are away in their caravan for 3 months as of yesterday. I was in charge of making dessert, so I thought a cheesecake would be nice. I couldn't decide which would be nicer, so I made a crunchie cheesecake and a peppermint crisp cheesecake ( both glutenfree as Dad can't have gluten). Then DS3 tells me he doesn't like cheesecake and can I plleeeaase make a sponge cake. So I made the edc sponge and filled it with strawberry jam fresh strawberries and whipped cream with a dusting of icing sugar on top.
Making an entrance at my brothers with all these desserts, everyone ( except Mum who has a TM) thought I'd slaved away for hours in the kitchen. My nieces and nephew were suitably impressed too.

Okay  ;D  I've got a Christmas wreath bread in the oven, and a couple of batches of brioche dough rising in the fridge to make chocolate hazelnut filled brioche tomorrow - yum!  Also made some lemon butter to give away with bread, and some rapadura-maple syrup toffee (with roasted nuts and chocolate on top), and some cinnamon almond addiction... Oh, and pumpkin, bacon & broccoli 'fried' rice in the tmx for dinner - quick and easy so I could get back to my cooking!  Have to stop cooking now so I can put my gf gingerbread man recipe on my blog!  :)

Jo, Christmas wreath bread, hope you will share (can sort of imagine)

Today I made smoothie and porridge for breakfast (school holidays so can make everyone happy, lol).
Rice to go with freezer curry (for dd3 and I, the others had bread, wraps and salad)
A loaf of bread (always something different, and I stupidly never write down what I make, today's is on the blog but not sure what was in it, black chia and buckwheat flour I think)
Dinner was chicken and feta balls with wedges and salad (picture on blog or in the dinner thread).
Was planning a big tmx day - mayo and jam but didn't quite need them. So did some dehydrating and made a load of dried oregano (we have a major surplus) and then as it was out did some dried apple and banana.
Also made a easiyo yoghurt.

Zan, for the wreath bread I just make spelt bread dough (you can do an unsweetened brioche dough, with egg, or challah dough) and braid it then shape it into a wreath - you can colour one strand red with beetroot and one strand green with spinach (or red capsicum and green capsicum) but I didn't this time.  I can't post a photo tonight because my camera's playing up, and my laptop is too, so I'm on my husband's laptop and my photos are on the other one!  Annoying.  I do have a photo from last year on my blog though: Holiday Cooking.   :)

Not cooking much as we have visitors coming in the front door and others going out the back door!,,,   Love reading what you creative people are making.  so much variety and so imaginative.   Have made most Xmas presses inTMX this year and everyoneloves them.Mostly Xmas puds, jams and little show bags of KFC with instructions. We are going to Hobart on the 27th. To watch the the big yachts from Sydney arrive.  Taste of Tasmania, is on in the next  Pier and I might pick up some good TMX ideas.  Merry Christmas to all you good people.

Been a busy day today so not much tmxing.  I made a variation on the gourmet beef casserole using a game pie pack from the butchers - as usual it was delicious.

DS1's birthday tomorrow (he'll be 9) so we have a friend coming round. I have a good friend I met at church when William was a baby, she had a baby around the same age, then we had another together and then another so our children are in the same classes at school.  Fortunately all the children get on together (particularly our middle children who are different genders).  Anyway I digress - the children are having make your own pizza - the dough I made today and Joy and I will be having roasted butternut squash and corn soup with Issi's "very normal" bread rolls.  I've made the dough and that is now proving outside (it being the Northern Hemisphere I shall be assured of a long, tasty prove - at least I'm very much hoping i won't be opening the back door to be confronted by bread dough spilling everywhere ...)

The soup I made last week and is now in the freezer (in portions of course ...)

Joy is a "food technology" teacher and I'm always gratified that she enjoys my cooking.

I feel slightly guilty that the birthday boy isn't having pancakes for breakfast but its 1045 here and I have at least one iffy child so I'm going to get my head down while I've the chance!
