Have a read of this thread MEP. I've done both the Vienna loaf and Chookie's no fuss loaf.

Judy, making bread in the SC was the thread that I read in its entirety - all 15 pages - yesterday that got me wanting to try it. I just wanted some advice on which bread recipe - Vienna or plain white - I should try. What's the difference in taste between plain white and Vienna?
Thanks.

Judy - please disregard previous question. I just read all 14 pages of the original Vienna loaf thread and have decided to go with Vienna loaf as a trial using the slow cooker. I have NEVER made bread before. Lots of baking of sweet treats, but not bread so am keen to try.
Just one question though. Is there much of a taste/textural difference with the Vienna loaf between conventional oven cooking versus the SC??

I'll stick my nose in here.
SC or Crock Pot bread is denser than oven baked bread.
The Vienna, which I love is lighter than No Fuss.
The thing to watch , is the size of your SC. A small SC uses 1/2 recipe and 3 to 5 litre ones the full recipe. With the 3 litre one I have to weigh down the lid as it tends to want to push the lid off.
Good idea to spray the lid with oil so lid doesn't stick to lid.
You might need to have a couple of goes to get the timing right. Write down what you did and adjust it next time.
Have fun and let us know how you go.

Thanks Chookie. Your nose is always welcome given it provides such fantastic advice and tips.
I just realized my multi-cooker is too big - it's nearly 6 litres. Will try the Vienna loaf in the oven and then will have to buy a small SC to try the SC bread.

Thanks Chookie and good luck MEP. You'll find breadmaking so rewarding. I believe you can still use a large SC by placing your dough into a bread tin first but I've never tried it myself. If you make your first loaf in the oven you will then have something to compare your SC loaves with.

Have fun MEP. Bread making is so rewarding, it is my favourite type of baking.

I really love this recipe, it is so versatile. DH shaped rolls for soup and hamburger shaped ones for dinner.
