What's for Dinner Tonight?

Leek and smoked salmon quiche tonight. It is from Cookidoo. I have made the pastry and it is in the fridge.

BBQ sausages, and on the BBQ grilled sliced zucchini and a whole eggplant !! Thus a lesson learnt , I hear a loud bang , it only had burst open rescued it all good . Skinned and added her spine nuts lemon juice olive oil salt nice side dish . Baby beets ( ones you get in a small pack cooked and Cryovac heated up with Yoghurt mint .

Soup for lunch and roast chicken leftovers for Dinner. Lots of Kale self seeded so will also make a salad .

I blitzed some mince up with breadcrumbs, stock paste and some veggies. I'm going to roll these into balls and cook on a bed of veggies with a curry sauce. We will have it with rice.

Chicken parma last night.  Tonight marinated salmon with potato mash, carrot, zucchini & tomato mix.  Stewed peaches for dessert.

Last night I baked 1/4 pears in AF, sprinkled with a little brown sugar, little knobs of butter and some fruit vinegar. It formed a caramel sauce.  Very nice. Inspired by Maggie Beer.

That sounds delicious. I may try it. Not sure what our dinner is tonight as it’s the wedding. I don’t think it will be sit down as it is at the brides home.
Last night we had a spaghetti bolognaise sauce with potato gnocchi. Mixed together and sprinkled with cheese.

Roast eye fillet beef with roast harissa home grown carrots , English spinach ( home grown ) and roast potatoes. Fresh raspberries and strawberries from Portland, there the best , boys had ice cream .

Tonight is a chicken and vegetable pie from the freezer, with veggies.

Last nights wedding food was unusual, but perfectly suited to the couple that married. They were married by the river in a lovely setting and the reception was at the bride’s parents house. It was canapés of various sorts and drinks. Then at about 7.30/8 we had paella. When we arrived there was 3 enormous paella dishes set up out the front of the house. DH and I had the seafood one. Dessert was 4 different multi layer butter cakes decorated and flavoured in different ways and then the surprise of the evening was when a Mr Whippy van backed onto the front lawn and we could all have Icecreams. The young people partied on but those over 70 departed about 11.

It was lovely Judy. The DJ at the wedding played Greensleeves as it arrived.

CC, you would be a reliable authority on Cornish Pasties.  What filling  do you use. ?

We are having another Cookidoo recipe for dinner tonight. I will report back on it.

If I can buy it Chookie I use Beef Skirt. It makes all the difference to a pasty. I always use potato, swede and onion with lots of salt and pepper. My Mum always used white pepper but I prefer black pepper.
Using lard and butter in the pastry makes the pasty taste good.😁

When Denise come over for one of the Forumfests she gave us all a tea towel with the Cornish Pasty recipe on it.  These are the ingredients which are the same as what Denise has listed. I can give you the method if you would like that too.

Thanks CC.  Just the same as how my Mum made them.  Skirt steak has to be specially ordered
 here, but does make all the difference.  I think beef cheeks might be a good substitute.
