Pumpkin quiche with pepitas, oven baked  chips and steamed vegies. Quiche is a variation of a recipe in the Vegetarian cookbook - using up all the bits and pieces in the fridge.

I wanted to do soup tonight but the masses have rebelled saying it is too hot. So we're having Peanut chicken from here, with Chookie's icecream and her new rice custard and blueberries. Plus some vegies of course.

Making honey soy chicken drumsticks, I'm going to pull up a stool near the TM and sit and cook. (legs are killing me) I have discovered that standing on one leg for to long is not very comfortable.
Think will just have steamed veggies with the chicken tonight.

Sounds like it will be a very long 6-7 weeks.   You need a scooter that you can sit on (Like the stools hairdressers use sometimes)
How much of your leg is in plaster?   I would go crazy with my movement so restricted.
I may need surgery soon on my back to fuse two vertibrae and I am dreading it

Only up to the knee Rosie.
The hair dressers stool sounds great.

I decided to do some framing today but I couldn't stand on one foot for that long so I hopped back inside and grabbed the other kitchen stool and hopped, moved, hopped, moved, hopped, moved, hopped, moved until I got the stool in my workshop, then collapsed lol. Made life a lot easier.

While I was sitting peeling veggies and preparing tea I decided to peel some apples to make an apple crumble as well.

Only 6 weeks 4 days to go.......sigh

Can you bend your knee, Dede?

If so, you can put a cushion on a chair seat and "stand" with some of your weight on your bent knee.  I used that method a lot when I had my problem and sitting would be too awkward.

Yep I can. Will try this as well. All these suggestion certainly help. I fractured my leg and was in plaster when I was about 13 and cant remember it being this difficult :). But I guess 26 years later things have changed a little ;)

I'm having home made haloumi and salad and the mob are having curry and rice. I have book club tonight and it is very hot so that will be lovely before I go.

Had one of those little lamb roasts last night, really enjoyed it.

Tonight am making the quinoa & mushroom lasagne from FFS. I have done the soaking in the thermoserver overnight so it's ready to go today. Must admit it didn't smell very good so hoping the end result is.

I'm determined to try things that I wouldn't ordinarily make, this is one of them so it will be interesting.  ;D

Can't wait to read your review of that one JulieO.  Maybe it will taste better than it smells.  You're doing a great job at reviewing the recipes in this book.

Great photo Julie, better than Tenina's really (sorry Tenina) as yours shows some filling and the one in the book is sadly lacking this component in the photo.
