Just after Christmas I bought a duck going out of special for $8 (down from $20) and yesterday I cooked it in my slow cooker.  It was so tender and moist I would certainly do it this way again.  Anyway I removed the flesh from the skin and bones trying to keep the breasts as intact as possible and sieved the liquid into a bowl and put it in the fridge overnight.  This morning there was lovely duck fat on the top which I have put in a container.  I used some to make roast potatoes, I steamed some veg in the Varoma and served the duck breasts with some cherry sauce that I made some time ago that I had in the freezer.  Such a lovely, tender meal and the potatoes were far nicer than any I'd made before using bought duck fat.
Tomorrow I plan on using up the rest of the duck flesh in Cookie's chicken & bacon pasta meal for DH.

No children, no husband, so I bought take away.  Very disappointed. Doesn't taste like I remember, or maybe I just prefer home cooking!

That's disappointing Kimmy. We are going away for the weekend, have a wedding on Saturday so thought we would have take away on Sunday night. That way we don't need to take cooking bits and pieces, as we are camping in the camper trailer. Hopefully we enjoy it.

It must had been so disappointing for you Kimmy.I think all ours tastebuds are refined to good food now.I recently was given a piece of cake that wasn't "homemade" and it was dry and very sweet.
