Finally took some photos of our new christmas tree. I don't think it looks as great in the photos but we are very happy with it.

Thanks everyone. We have been promising ourselves a new tree for about 5 years, we've had our pre children tree since we got married 20 years ago and it was looking very tired. When the kids started to erect the tree on the evening of the 1st made a snap decision to rush to the shops (at 7.30pm) and this was the outcome. Amazingly both DS, DD and I all agreed on the silver and purple theme, after an additional weekend trip for more lights and some flashier decorations we were pleased with the outcome.
Maddie, I was fortunate to be in Peru for work a few weeks ago and saw these tree skirts at a local market in Lima. Unfortunately the trip was the last week in November and I was still imaginng the size of our old tree so I purchased the smaller size, they had a much bigger one that would have looked even lovelier. The detail on them is amazing, with all the traditional christmas themes depicted. I also have a few hidden decorations purchased on the same trip and from numerous trips to Mongolia prior to last christmas which I couldn't bear to part with even though they didn't match the colour scheme.
Just realised I had included a close up of the Peru decoration which I took to send to the girl from the office in Lima that purchased it for me!

this is our chrissy tree..a mix match of a whole lot of things and not at all a piece of art lol but in our house the kids decorate the tree..i believe in free creativity and it doesnt bother me if our tree isnt gorgeous as long as the kids do....they love it

That looks great Frozzie. Our tradition is that the kids decorate the tree on the 1st December, regardless of the day of the week or if we ave anything else on. When they were younger and really into making the decorations it was much more of a 'free spirit' tree with lots of colors, but as they have both got older they much prefer a tree that looks like its come out of a magazine! I still put some of the decorations that have special meaning for me - such as some they have made, but the kids ensure they are hidden way at the back.

haha yes so much changes as they get older...im still at the baby stages so for a 3 and 6 year old I think they did a pretty good job really...could have been much worse...as for decorations my mum sent the kids a huge box of glass decorations of which a third broke in transport..but they were very proud puttig up their decorations...think the nice shiny decorations win over anything homemade with todays kiddies unfortunately...i remember making homemade christmas decorations...fun times..DD did make a paper christmas tree with lollies at school as her christmas gift...DS school dont do crafts for home/gifts..

It's all about the kids at Christmas Frozzie, it is an exciting time for them and they did a wonderful job. They will probably laugh at the pictures when they grow up but little tackers do the best they can do.
I was admiring the tree at DD's the other day and 3 yr old GS kept saying 'don't touch' - I think that must have been said to him many times over.

It's all about the kids here as well although having a moody 16 year old girl this year may take some of the shine away, she has even hidden the annual Santa photos that I proudly desplay beside the tree each year to another room and removed the last few years of her altogether! I'm sure on christmas night when Santa is delivering gifts she will be on Facebook saying how draggy her parents are but in this house if you don't believe you don't receive so she might be having a very lean Christmas this year
