well, its this time of year again, and i am yet again excited to be decorating the tree.
maddy, i was inspired by your felt gingerbread men from last year, so have made some this week for my daughters kindy teacher. i have the same colour tree as last year, turquoise and silver, with the addition of hot pink!. my 2 fav colours together! will post pics soon.
i have had an absence from this forum, as have spent a lot of time this year on my craft projects, and less time cooking, and i also couldnt sign in for ages as my dad cleaned my computer, and lost passwords, i couldnt remember it so have been unable to comment even when i have been on here.
i am decorating a gingerbread house tomorrow, with my 4.5 year old daughter, but just bought the flat pack house from ikea!!!
any suggestions on how to decorate, have never made one before. any tips on sticking the house together?
happy tree decorating everybody, and i look forward to seeing more tree pics!

im sure someoen else will answer nicky but i think you just use royal icing for the 'glue and decorating'!

Fundj, I am with you. I have lost my christmas spirit this year. With the new business I am just so busy. I let DS7 decorate the tree this year. Usually I am very particular with my decorations but this year I really don't care. LOL

Re: gingerbread house.....just a basic royal icing for the glue, and just go beserk with any sweets!   I'm planning my first one this year.....after the kids nagged me......hasn't happened yet.....but I did promise them

Same here Maddy and the decision is not the result of nagging kids. AWW have a great one in the Dec edition so will see how it goes!!!!!

oh i miss aussie christmas mags ((  does anyone have subscirptions via ipad for AWW or others like good taste, delicious etc etc?

our chrissy tree is getting delivered today yay!! I have a fake one in our attic but decided this year to order a lovely big real one...A grade so nice and full and tall...hopefully it wont be too big lol..apparently its 1m75 to 2m and its a nordmann so doesnt lose its needles...photos coming soon!

well, what a disaster that was!!!!! we had lots of fun decorating the gingerbread house, but i think the weight of a whole packet of freckles on the roof, was way too much for one poor little house, and collapsed before we could even take a photo, or finish decorating it! however, we did then lay it all flat and dd4, decorated the rest of it with smarties, she had fun, and it took me forever to clean up the mess! glad i didnt actually make the gingerbread in the first place, although i like the look of the mould from chefs toolbox maddy! also like the suggestion of doing shortbread in it.
so my image of my colour co-ordinated gingerbread house sitting next to my xmas tree is just not going to happen!   
maybe next year!

Frozzie, I buy individual copies of aww magazine  (think that's what it's still called) to look at while travelling and find it fantastic. With recipes I'm interested in I just take a copy of the recipe and save in Evernote - i find it works really well. I have an Australian app store account and have never had a problem with it. I've also bought copies of master chef and Donna hay which were both great as well.

you need to first download the app for which ever magazine you would like to purchase. I have Donna Hay, Masterchef and The Australian Womens Weekly, you then purchase each issue from within the app. If you go to the app store and do a search on magazines you will find a lot of titles - I've just noticed Gormet Traveller which I haven't noticed before. The individual apps are free. The other option is to look at Zinio, I used that a number of times before the magazines got their own apps and I don't think they have a country limitations. you might need to google Zinio first though as from memory there was some trick to getting around the country limitations. Good Luck, I love reading magazines on the ipad, they are so clear and have lots of little extras. At the moment the Donna Hay current and last issue are free.
